Leaving the 35mm 2.8 and 100-400 at home -so just taking the rest.. and look there's room for more...

I can see why you'd leave the 35mm behind, saves you a lot of space and weight!

Has anyone tried the 70-300? (vs the 70-200 f4, don’t need the 2.8)

No but I would consider the 70-200mm f4 over the 70-300mm as its a very sharp lens.
You could probably easily crop to a 300mm equiv and still end up with good IQ.

Funny you say that, because I was reading/watching a few reviews against the 70-200 and the 70-300 was similar in sharpness in the centre, but much sharper at the corners, pretty much across the entire focal range. Surprised me, too.

i'd have got the 70-300mm if it wasn't so overpriced :P

Hi all, just ordered a 3rd party battery for my hopefully soon to arrive A7III, from eBay from Hong Kong co seven-1988 £22.99 delivered,
please no need for any posts about how you always use originals, and how I'm taking a risk etc heard it all before.

I'm as confident as I can be Riz I have used 3rd party batteries in Nikon, Canon, Fuji And Olympus cameras in the past without any problems, I have also ordered a separate charger from a different source
so it will be charged and checked for any overheating problems before it goes in the camera.

I should be fine.... :)

It’s cheaper than the 70-200, though? What did you buy?

If I could find the 70-300 used, I’d be set!

I have no serious telephoto lens at the moment. When absolutely needed I adapt a canon 100-300mm which was £20 :p
Previously I used the Sony a-mount 70-400mm G. Now I'd probably get 100-400 if need telephoto.

You go into photography hibernation for a few years while everyone is talking about there only being two brands worth buying and Sony was on the down, and you come back and everyone wants Sony :)

Well maybe not, but good to see a busy Sony thread here.

Selling a Minolta 85/1.4 and EA4 in the classifieds if anyone is interested... but my real question is, anyone used or own the 100mm FE STF?

Which version of the 85mm is it?
It's an awesome lens :D

I have the 100mm stf. It’s ridiculously good. More Suited to shooting outside or with a lot of light indoors, so it’s a bit of a luxury lens.
I think its bokeh may split opinion but I love it.

More like you are secret Sony fanboy. For goodness sake, just buy one you know you really want one.
Nearly did last week, but it's not quite for me so bought a D850 instead :D

Soooo tempting... I could buy this and the Minolta 35mm f1.4 G and swap A7RII for A99ii. Because lenses are smaller it may not actually be much bigger than mirrorless
Not to mention cheaper also for good glass...

Sure you want to buy into an A mount camera?
