You need to be a modern man, you need to be in touch with your feelings etc and then you'll love going to a stylist instead of a barber and even take an interest in clothes, and bags :D

I go to a barber, an Italian one, and if I asked for anything other than short all over I think he'd hyperventilate.

The turks are dreadful for that,everytime i go by the turkish barber shops all i see are skins up to crown,no blending to speak of
but i guess thats what they feel comfortable doing.im a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to fades :LOL:

The bigger zoom lenses generally have larger pieces of glass inside them which are more prone to heat expansion (in hot climates), building the lenses in white/off-white tends to reflect a lot more of the sun heat compared to black lenses. :)
 
And lol to this

Canon also points out that many of its black lenses have a heat-related feature as well. If you find that your lens allows you to focus past its infinity mark (AKA over-focusing), that feature is to allow the lens to expand when shooting in hot conditions

It's not bad tolerance it's a feature
 
I was doing a subcontracting job at NASA last week and I got speaking to a guy in Image Analysis. I told him I was most interested in the cameras being used for shuttle missions and on the ISS.

The guy told me they use Kodak and Nikon DSLRs and Nikkor lenses exclusively. When asked why they weren't using Canon DSLRs, he replied that they had been trialled, and the bodies didn't have any problems. The problem, he said, is that Canon use Fluorite lens elements in many of their long lenses and that in trials the fluorite elements had suffered fractures from the vibration associated with a launch. On one occasion, a fluorite element had completely disintegrated rendering the lens useless. ED elements did not suffer any fracturing problems. He went on to say that Canon had been trying for years to get into the space program, but that NASA would never consider Canon cameras or lenses while they continued to employ Fluorite in any required lenses.

Dunno if its true.

I am not fussed if they are black or white and my theory isn't anything new, Canon also say its heat / lens element related. ;)

Or Nikon just do NASA a better deal on prices! :D lol

No, its they wanted to stand out from the crowd, how better to do that than make your lens a different colour? Or are the elements so weak they cant withstand a few degrees difference?

Interesting because Nikons new lenses are black and guess what lens elements they use.

Who knows, either way it doesn't bother me, can always paint them black if you really need to :D

I like white lens bring me back to my canon days.

Want the 100-400 next just scraping funds together then the 90mm macro

The reason I am leaning towards the black now I think the black is more discrete, looking at a lot of photos and my eyes don’t attract towards the black at all whereas the brown I immediately notice it and want to go towards it. Whilst that’s great in terms of desirability, it’s also bad for security.


Also, one reviewer used both colours side by side for 8 months and he noted that the brown ages like natural leather would and the black stays like new. Both are fine as I like the natural aging leather look but staying like new for longer may be also good, plus any leather conditioner will darken the leather and that will be less noticeable on the black.

I did consider street discreteness when choosing black too :) maybe if they did camo leather....
