Or you could say a Samyang 35 and 50 1.4 is £100 more than a used Zeiss 35. Nearer the £500 mark, makes the difference almost double.

Although I'm at the other end of the budget I am in same situation with the 2.8 versions. Sony has a nicer build, probably a tad faster AF wise and you can add filters under the hood if you need too where as on the Samyang they will not fit under the hood.

didn't you say focussing is not much better than sigma 35mm+mc-11?

the zeiss focusses brilliantly and is definitely a step better than sigma 35+mc-11.

Yup. But you only need it if you want to update or lens doesn't ship updated.

Let's assume he meant afs and not a single point because that's the opposite of afc ;)

The sigma in good light is excellent. Have you had the zeiss?
There’s nothing in it between the samyang and zeiss with fw updated.
 
Used Sony one, they go for pretty cheap compared to new prices!
