The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Opps, sorry, thought it was the new Sony, bloody impressive photography with the Canon gear..!!

Peter

I was just discussing the 50mm lens as I’m thinking getting the Zeiss 50/1.4 Planar, all those are taken with the Sigma Art.

Can tell they aren't Sony, skin isn't green :D
I've got to say, I was surprised how bad the Sony profiles are. Camera neutral is very green, camera portrait very orangey/yellow and camera standard very yellow. Thank god you can create profiles in LR ;)

I can’t wait for the 105/1.4. I don’t think that’ll be a run and gun wedding lens but I think for some couple shots and speeches it will be epic.

Results should be great, but the size... 135 1.8 is arguably the better choice.

Be interesting to see what these FE Sigma lenses are like. Does the dock become useless as it’s not a DSLR? Oh apart from firmware updates.

Just in case anyone is interested in my Minolta Rokkor 35mm f2.8 with the damaged coating story...

I took some pictures with it today and I'm staggered at the degradation in image quality. I honestly never thought it'd be this bad as didn't lenses have no coatings some time ago? Were they this bad????

Anyway, for anyone who's interested in the dramatic difference the damaged coating has made here's a link to the thread I made about it, I've added a picture taken with the damaged lens and one of the same thing taken with a good lens...

Who'd have thunk it?

What was the verdict on the A73? Seem to recall DPR thought there was a mild one in their sensor tests, can't say I have any complaints from the photos I've taken so far.

No doubt Jim will test the A7 III at some point.
He has retested the Sony A9 to be sure and the results were the same, no AA filter on the Sony A9.
Really surprised Sony didn’t market it as having no AA filter as it could be seen as a plus point.

Gave in to Sony GAS :o

On the way....

Sony A9 + Grip incl second battery
Sony FE 100mm f2.8 STF G Master
Sony FE 100-400 f4.5 - 5.6 G Master
Sony Zeiss 35mm f2.8

:D

Its not always a plus point. As with everything else in photography the are benefits to having it and not having it...

6 numbers come up last night or something?

What's the 100mm 2.8 all about?

Thought 90 was the macro

It’s a specialty lens with a built in APD filter, gives you that extra background effect, downside is that at f2.8 it works like a f5.6 lens due to the loss of light related to the APD.
