The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Yeah the cost of the Sony A9 is high :(

You only live once etc...

There's nothing Sony wise I want at the mo. I've just sold a manual lens and a Panny GX7 and the money will go towards a Panny GX9. The GX9 has a poor evf but almost everything else I want it there so it should keep me happy for a while :D

Not that I can get out and take any pictures at the mo.

Some nice images those last ones, I'm not the kind of person to talk about cropped bokeh balls and onion rings ;)

All this talk of new models is delaying my trip to the dark side :D

Perhaps an a9...lololol be nice with the 1DX2 and 5D4 :D I've 11mm - 1000mm coverage in Canon glass :D

Join that dark side my friend, many Nikon D4/5 and Canon 1DX II shooters have moved over...... :D

My next buy might need to be a pc as mine rattles when I pick it up. I think something's come off inside and is falling into the fan... considering the mess the professionals made of my Rokkor 35mm f2.8 it's put me off professionals for a while so I think I might strip the pc down myself.

I'd take a picture of my manual lenses for you but I haven't got a table big enough or lens wide enough, maybe I could fit just the 35mm's in.
Try and take some photos of them all, would be nice to share :)
You could spell a word with them all :D

Not got one yet. Waiting for our local shop to get a used one in

I was in the middle of ordering one from Mifsuds and some b*****d managed to snag it a few seconds before I finished the checkout.

If you're on this forum, I hope it's soft in the corners!

Pretty much sums it up.

£1k cheaper grey

Which way round is the zoom and focus rings on the 70-200mm, is the zoom ring closest or farthest from the camera?

Closest - its actually a really nice lens in the hand. Better balanced than the VRII.

A9 - 3k Grey
A7R3 - 2.5k Grey

Makes more sense to go to Panamoz.

have an intermittent fault with my 85mm g master. occasionally when turned it it makes a loud noise and won't focus or shoot. is fixed by turning off and on again.
i can live with it possibly - but concerned theres a issue there.

Why not just send it back and get another one....

Doesn't sound good, I assume you've tried cleaning the contacts?

was bought used. spoke to the guy on the phone and he has offered to give full refund, £200 back to get fixed myself or send back to him to fix and return to me.
Take the full refund and buy another used one. If you don't find another tell the seller to get back to you when it's fixed, I am sure he'd sell it back to you.

Few questions about the Sony A7's

  • When you're reviewing an image can you set a button that at a press it zooms the image in to 1:1 at the area of the focus point?
  • Can you set a button that sets the AF point back to the centre point?
  • Does the AF point stay in place if you change orientation? What I mean is that if I have centre point set when the camera is in landscape orientation, can I set a different AF point when I turn the camera to portrait and then when I go back to landscape it's stayed as the centre point?
  • Is there a button/quick access to bracketing mode, and can you select this to take 3 or 5 images, and at varying +/- ev's?
  • How do you set Auto ISO? On my D750 I hold the ISO button and turn the rear dial to set ISO, and then I can turn the front dial to set AUTO ISO on/off, this allows me to set the low ISO higher if I want. Is it similar on Sony?
  • Does AUTO ISO work in manual mode, and can you use exp comp in manual?
