The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Just watched few vids on YouTube on A7R3.... nice!

Does it come with a charger?! Lol
Yes it does lol typical

At £1800 equivalent it’s gotta be close to the best bang for buck camera.

I mean, its still not a cheap camera at all though is it. I'd say there are better 'bang for buck' cameras if you look at lower price ranges. In its price bracket, yes, very much so. But you don't just buy a camera, you buy lenses that are double the price. Tamron 24-70 2.7 G2 and 70-200 2.8 G2 for the same price as DSLR, then we are talking.

Well least I have a camera that can do everything so I no need to worry now..

Am a happy bunny..
Nah, it doesn’t read your thoughts and shoot for you ;)

Don't wait, you can always wait for the next one but this camera IMO is undervalued and underpriced. Looking at what you get, compare to the A9 and A7R3 pricing, and also what the 5D4 and D850 retails for, I would have stick this at £2500 - £2700 and it would STILL look good value.

£2000 is seriously unexpected, this is 6D2 price point with D850/5D4 performance.

Is there a reason Sony don’t do lossless? As innovators you’d think if anyone did lossless it would be Sony.

Nah no innovation involved it's been done and dusted (even by Sony in fact long back in their A900/850/700 DSLRs). So it's beneath their innovative minds to implement such predestrian useful feature :p

Only sticking point for me so far is lenses, must have 35 1.4. So it's samyang / mc11 35 art or wait zzz for 35 art native

You already had one that did everything?

A6500 also does everything :)

D500 was nice camera. BUT this A7iii is in a different world. DR is better. IQ is better as it FF.. None of my lens need Fine Tuning.. The sigma art on the D500 kept going off and you couldnt use all the AF point with that lens..

This A7iii is a winner

I tend to agree, it's incredibly aggressive pricing. They just threw everything in.

I was only talking the camera not the system, but if you look at the tech, features, sensor performance etc it’s gotta be up there. Sure there are cameras like the D3400 which are bargains, but when you start breaking down sensor size, sensor performance, AF performance, feature set etc then the gap narrows.

I was waiting for a d760 at this pricepoint but f it, been waiting to long and this on paper has everything I want from a hybrid especially with the sigma announcement. If the AF lives up to the hype I'll be bloody thrilled.

How long have you got to wait

Have to agree here... was hoping that Sigma Art would be a proper native lens and a bit smaller!

I’m not sure the A7iii is quite a rival for the D850, but it’s not far off. Tbh I don’t know how much more it costs to produce high MP sensors and whether the price of the D850 and A7riii are therefore justified (I know the A7riii has the better build, EVF and LCD too and it’s not just the sensor).

And hopefully the pinstripes don’t affect you (y)

Isn't that just an A7iii..... albeit dreaming about the 35mm f1.8!
A7III is 250g heavier and fair bit fatter than the original A7. I moved to Sony e-mount when they released A7 for A7 sized bodies not for A7III sized bodies
And they are still lacking in weathersealing

True I forget how small the original bodies were before IBIS was added, it should be so easy to do full-on weather sealing as well considering Olympus and Fuji seem more than able to do it!

Isn’t weather sealing a little overrated? Unless your shooting in the p***ing rain all day. How many of your lenses are weather sealed?

I moved from A99 which has IBIS to A7 which didn't because I didn't much care for it.

Yeah for some reason they went all the way with latest bodies and decided to skimp on the base... :banghead:

Apparently all Sony FE lenses are moisture and dust resistant. If they aren't weathersealed then I'd like weather sealed lenses too :P

My mate picked up my a7r3 with its pancake lens and he was very surprised how heavy and solid it was. He said it looked like a pos camera and thought it must be light as feathers and built by fisher price.

Yeah I wish, fisher price would do a better job of building it properly. My son is yet to break any of his fisher price electronics (they have been washed and rinsed :D)
I bet your A7R3 won't last 5 minutes in his hands :p

Weather sealing has probably saved me on several occasions. That being said I don’t know how none weather sealed systems would have coped, but I’m not sure I’d want to find out either
