The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Anyone hazard a guess how the AF of the A7iii or A7riii with Canon 70-200mm f2.8 would compare to the D750 and 70-200mm VRII in terms of acquisition and tracking?

Definitely, although, I was doing a talk on film photography so had a few SLRs in front of me so used them to explain the difference between the two. Still got mainly blank faces with regards to Mirrorless though :0)
isn't the difference one has a mirror and one doesn't :ROFLMAO:

Not the best test tbh, DOF is so big that everything's in focus so no way to tell how accurate focus has been.

Looking at the eye AF on that, is it a two button process, i.e. one button to press and hold to track using eye AF and then the shutter button to take the shot?
your so not wanting it to be better than your d750 so you dont have to go through the change :D:ROFLMAO:

Is anyone going from a D750 to the A7 III or made a similar switch to a Sony full frame? I was looking for a better hybrid solution as video is important. I'd need to replace the 24-70 for run and gun and then get the 28/55/85 for primes. Is the 28-70 good enough for video work?

Does anyone have the 28? I'd look to invest in that to keep the camera size down for smaller projects.

Still mulling the decision as wanted to see if Nikon finally go mirrorless this year but don't want to be a beta tester.
wait for Toby, hes on the edge :ROFLMAO:

TBH I'd like to change, fancy giving this Sony thing a go ;) But I've also gotta be realistic and sensible. Using the Sony with mainly Canon lenses would be a much cheaper way to do things, and for the most part AF speed and acquisition is not that important. However, with the 70-200mm it's vital, and it's pretty important with the 150-600mm (y)

If only Minnnt was here

Just opened it, please tell me this thing is meant to come with a charger

I bought a charger off evil bay, it didn't cost a lot and it works fine.

I know it's a PITA but it seems to be the way of the world these days.

Are there any 3rd party chargers yet for the newer batteries? £85 seems a bit much for an accessory that a lot of people would expect to get in the box.

I've never bought a camera that didn't come with a charger

So tempted seems almost perfect for me, just missing a glabal shutter.

Others on unboxing videos seem to come with a charger and given that you have the mains leads I'd suggest that the charger just got left out
I always wondered who watched unboxing videos ;)

Maybe it varies with the market you buy in... Might be worth a call to the supplier... or msybe it says what's inside on the side of the box?

Yes I definitely would have thought it came with one
Usually tells you on the box or in the manual what 'accessories' it comes with.

Can any other UK owners confirm if an external charger came with it ??
