Well I been out in the heavy snow with my D500 are we saying the Sony won’t cope as hard as the D500 did ?
I had the A7RIII sitting on a tripod in heavy snow for around 6 hours - did ok.

Been reading about Stripe noise on the A7iii that put me off now.

Ah I see, did see that mentioned elsewhere, doesn’t look great - could be something that only appears at extremes I guess, need to wait and see if its a wider issue, certainly doesn’t happen with other Sony bodies.
Those samples are hardly extreme.

I know that.. just trying not to set hares running!
I think there was a similar issue one one of the older bodies, maybe even the A7?
Could be a beta camera rather than a final batch
Wrong.
So it happens on them all then but we don’t notice. You say it a PDAF issue
Saw it on the link yes that a7iii am
Talking about others 7

Why don't you do some research.
Quick question; from what I can make out the best A7 series auto focus will be in the a7iii and second place to the a7riii?
That's my understanding too but no one knows for sure. If everything is equal between two bodies A7III will still have better frame coverage than A7RIII. So it'll most likely be better.

Sorry really it only caused when using a flash or bright light. What about bright landscape
We can turn PDAF off though so that could cure it but wouldn’t want it off would we
Also shows up with backlight, like sun or harsh light.

Quality.Wrong.
Hmm [emoji848]
Now I dunno what to do I was all set on the a7 iii
YesMore than your d750??
TBH the EM1 gives me more confidence than my A77 and A77-III don't know about Nikons but I have seen people use e-m1+12-40 in sludge and heavy rain.
Other bodies I'd vouch for personally is Sony A77 series with their 16-50/2.8 and canon 7D series.
But I don't need that level of weather sealing, if you do then sony e-mount is definitely not for you.
It's not just rain, it's dust, pollen etc etc.I don’t need proper seal. I don’t shoot in rain full stop. Only snow as it gives effect
It can happen on all A7's and the A9, it's the masked on sensor PDAFAh I see, did see that mentioned elsewhere, doesn’t look great - could be something that only appears at extremes I guess, need to wait and see if its a wider issue, certainly doesn’t happen with other Sony bodies.
Rookies over thinking things? NeverI think you're over thinking this.... Even on A6000 where this issue is most prominent I barely faced it.
Last time I checked we have no idea what settings the shots were taken at. Plus these are JPG files and possibly shot with silent shutter.
You can always order and send it back if you have this issue. But I am willing to bet a penny or two that you'll never face it.
Lol come on. Who has had any camera. Nevermind a Sony a7 fail because of dust pollution or pollen!Yes
