The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Some interesting posts

Nothing at the moment, not until the reviews are out at the very least.
I suspect the G Master will still be the better out of the two though.

It will be interesting to see what people think about it in the real world. Comparing a £900 3rd Party lens to a £2000 OEM pro lens will be a good test.

Do we know if these new Sigma FE lenses are production versions? Perhaps Sigma will make them look better with matching neck sections.

Pretty sure they are..... wait till they read everyones comments all over the web, they'll be pleased.

It will be good for the entire Sony FE system, more choice for consumers.
Some would already argue that the 24-70mm GM isn’t worth the price over the Zeiss f4 version, my f4 version was sharp.

Hopefully it will bring Sony down to earth with their lens pricing and increases.

It’s a poor oversight, all the had to do was build them with the same outer casing.

+1

Wow thats expensive!!!!

.

Sure is. From
Panamoz:-
Sony A7R III £2550
24-105mm f4 £1140
16-35mm £879
70-400mm £1395
70-200mm f2.8 £1855

Total £7819 so more than I said before, but that's because I looked at the 24-70mm rather than 24-105mm.

And that's without an 85mm f1.4 and 105mm f2.8 Macro which I also have

Why did they copy canon?
TBH I'm not a fan of the white lenses, look like they should be at NASA ;)

How much would you get for all your kit?

Thats bloody expensive.

I would hazard a guess at £4k max, that's two systems and way more lenses. So not worth it. I really love my current systems, would just be nice to have one system for everything but I can't afford, and nor would I be willing to pay that much for that kit.

In the scenario that Nikon come out and say “we are moving away from dslr in favour of mirrorless”. And they adapters are crap, what would you do?

Cry

Why? Are you planning on buying loads more lenses?
Because there’d be a big shift to the mirrorless system and my stuff would no doubt lose a hell of a lot of money. Plus, if they dropped DSLR sooner or later I’d have to ‘upgrade’ my camera.

Sony still makes A mount. Nikon and canon will support F and EF for a very long time or they will go bust, their customers will expect that... F mount won't cease to exist overnight, your stuff will devalue like it always has.
