The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Take the 100-400, you're only 30mm out from the other zoom and a whopping double the long stuff.
Again, I think your right and double the long end would certainly be useful. Thanks. :)

I think you're right, that probably is the way to go. I already have a 24-70 f/2.8 so could probably partex the 70-200 f/4 for the 100-400mm, a 30mm gap isn't the end of the world and would keep the lens count down. Thanks for that. :)
With the performance of the Sony sensors, it wouldn't be the end of the world to crop a little off the 24-70 either

Price drop on the Sony A9 folks :)
Now £4299. You can also get £500 trade-in bonus at some places. :D

Or 14 A6000's...lol.

Maybe A6000's should be the new monetary measurement... like Mars bars used to be.

And for the youngsters reading... years ago sometimes in news articles prices were related to how many Mars bars you could buy with the same amount.

One of the reasons I switched from Canon to Sony was to save on size and weight. I know figures have been quoted a million times to show that there isn't much of a saving with mirrorless however I was sorting through my multiple bags and discovered that all my lens fitted into a small ICU with the exception of 1 which is attached to the body and sits inside a ThinkTank Holster 10 ready to just grab and go. Anyways heres a pic of my little collection (apologies for the poor quality pic, however it was taken with my phone.)

The Rumor site reports the Voigtlander on the 35mm f1.4...

"The newly announced Nokton 35mm f/1.4 FE lens listed at BHphoto. But there is still no pricing info. I guess it will be priced around $700-800."

Read all about it...

I'll be keeping a close eye on the pricing and what reviewers say but I've been a bit put off relying on reviewers after some reported issues with the 40mm f1.2 that I just haven't seen.

I might buy a 35mm f1.4 even though it's a bit close to 40mm if it's more compact as it'd be nice to have a compact 35mm f1.4 as the f2.8 of the Sony 35mm is a bit limiting now and again. One other thing for me to think about would be any upcoming AF Sigma 35mm wide aperture lens but I don't expect this to be compact as I think they'll go for a more upmarket quality as per their Art lenses and that tends to mean bigger.

Any ideas as to which body he is using as seeing rain on it is a little comforting (providing it still works). The level of weather sealing has been the only thing that has concerned me with the A7rii

Following the links gets me to his Instagram thingy which says...

So maybe it's an A7rIII.

Is there much weight being saved here? The sigma lens is the regular largish sigma / but bigger with the adapter. The 55mm is similar size of most 50’s. Similar with the 85mm. Is the weight saving coming from the large zoom lens?

I agree its the A7riii Ive just seen a side by side comparison and the little assist lamp/sensor thingy is slightly different between the 2 cameras

I don't think there is much weight saved, however there is definitely a saving on the overall size, previously it would have contained a 5d3 with 24-70, the Sigma 35mm and a speedlight, I had a 70-200 f4 separate in its own case. I know the lenses aren't exactly like for like however I have the same ranges covered but in a smaller package. for general days out now I take the 16-35 along with the 55 which fits nicely in the Think Tank Body Bag

Edit: Ignore that, I see the Riii is labelled as 7R as well!

There are those who always insist that there's no weight saving with the A7 range but even if there isn't I think a saving in bulk matters. As I've said about 100 times, my A7 and 35mm fits in the same small bag my Panny GX80 and 17mm fits in, that matters to me :D

My a9 and 35mm fit in my pocket...

Having an issue today where the live view constantly shows the dof as if the lens is wide open. Once I stop it down the picture preview still shows the exposure as though it’s wide open. Once I take the shot I will then get the correct image.

Live view display setting effect is on.
