For me the A9 is camera of the year as it's the first mirrorless camera that not only matches performance as the best ever dslr but eclipse it.The Nikon D850 is quite a good camera but I’d say the Sony A7R III is just as good if not better is some aspects.
The Sony A9 is a bit of a left-field choice as it’s been clearly marketed at the professional sports market but is equally capable at events, weddings and portrait work too which a lot of the reviews overlook.
For me it’s a great all round body and 24mp is a sweet spot for now.
From a technological point of view the Sony A9 should take the crown.

and there was me thinking iPhone would win.
I see that your leaving Sony again![]()

I've shared a lot more A9 pics. Don't know what you are on about!I thought you were using your A7Riii more going by the photos you share? Is there something the A9 gives you over the 7?

And I still have a bucket load more to edit from it. Have also taken my a9 instead of the r3 during the holiday season around central Europe.
The A9 is my camera of the year for the reasons I've mentioned
I bid on a 35mm color skopar... but not enough![]()

I’ve been looking for some MF options to work around my low light AF frustrations and was chatting to Hamish Gill earlier about the 7Artisans lenses he’s distributing. The 50/1.1 in Leica M mount looks to be full of character and obviously low light performance but the 35/2 looks excellent too for only £145. I’m planning on selling my FE 50/1.8 and 28-70 then will try out the 35/2. If I like it, I’m tempted to pick up the 50/1.1 as well.

I've read a few reviews but have been put off by reports of poor quality so I'll be interested to know how you get on but also... why not just go for a legacy lens or two in the 35-50-ish range? They're at least a known quantity but on the down side you do need an adapter.
I bought the A9 to Abu Dhabi and most of the race was shot on that heheFair enough. I was looking at your Abu Dhabi and Barcelona sets and they all seemed to be A7Riii (which is a very good camera) so was interested in what the A9 specifically gives over the 7riii now.

Yea i think i only showed one shot from the race in the collection. The rest where shots mostly outside the track and around Abu Dhabi itself. I literally got the camera a day before I flewOk. I only looked at your Abu Dhabi Album on Flickr when you shared it and the only race shot was taken with the A7Riii, hence my confusion, but I'm glad you like it.

The A9 is faster for af and no blackout free is a game changer. The a7r3 is my primary studio and landscape camera as the mechanical shutter is faster for studio and the res higher.
Also the a7r3 is tiny bit better for video due to picture profiles.
I've probably clocked close to 10k of shots on the A9 since getting it.
Amazing camera.
I always thought if I had a Sony I would have Batis lenses, as they seemed quite good - however I took my Dad's images from a wedding for when I processed my own. There was a stark difference between this and the Leica Q/M10 I shot with.
Batis 85mm 1.8 on A6500, perhaps it's heavy backlighting as it's not so apparent in all images - it looks like it was shot through a plastic lens. We can see purple chromatic aberration on the flower's plastic covering - but it's like there's an underlying nervous CA across the rest of the image, almost like a 3d image.
I see it a lot in some of the images with lots out of focus, those areas look like they are shot through a vintage plastic lens.
Most obvious you can see purple/green/blue under the arm on the left - but i feel like it just flows through the image tinting the colours...
As no one else has commented yet...
I've taken strongly back lit shots with many older lenses and results can vary but mostly I've been happy enough with the most obvious result maybe being a drop in contrast and saturation. As to your shot, dunno, I'd need to see the unprocessed shot and settings before being too critical but I'm sure you know that shooting from inside a room at wider apertures when including windows and lots of light coming in and boosting the darker areas is a bit of a torture test. A bit of ca is no surprise.
