The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Good video, will be interesting to compare with the Sony A9 side by side including AF differences.
I can't remember off the top of my head but does the Sony A9 allow menu access when clearing the buffer, I don't think it does?
Also does the A9 show both SD card buffers when clearning?

Can you do a side by side test? :D
Just checked, the Sony A9's menu functions cannot be accessed when the files are writing to the buffer nor does it show each SD cards remaining buffer shots.
It a shame Sony don't add these small features via firmware :(

Yup sure did being a G Master whore! :D
It’s a smashing lens and not overly larger/heavier than the Zeiss f4 equivalent. :)

I love the Loxia 21 and the IQ is stellar and its probably as wide as I really like but I could use wider sometimes and obviously its small, great to manual focus which isn't much of a hassle, but the reviews of the GM have been pretty staggering (even more so than the 24-70) so its quite tempting....

Maybe we're talking about different things. I set my camera to DMC and I like that the lenses then AF but that I can grab the focus ring and focus manually at any time. If the Samyang doesn't allow that and you have to switch from AF to MF to MF that would rule it out for me... but it not being on sale when I got my Sony 35mm f2.8 was more of a deal breaker :D

I hadn't given the Samyang 35mm much thought actually as I assumed it would be inferior to the Loxia, but the reviews suggest its a great lens, seems that it will MF if you set it to DMF as you say

It's surprising the reviews have got this wrong...but maybe not so surprising :D

Have you thought about the Rokkor 45mm f2? It's cheap, small and light and has pretty nice image quality, nice bokeh :D

Batis 18

I know this is probably sacrilege but.... I really don't like the Batis lenses, I know that IQ wise they are outstanding but I really dislike the feel of them for some reason, felt kinda rubbery.....

wow first day on the a7r3 and its amazing!

the focus and overal handling and speed of the camera is sensational.

shot almost a thousand shots today and lots of 4k footages and came away with 25% battery left ! epic!!!!

Err what' it like compared to the a9 in low light and fast apertures?

as good as a 5d4 but not quite there with the a9 .i shoot mostly during the day so far

Yeah see day is usually where mirrorless is snappy. Good start though IF it keeps up with the 5div.... but you said that about the a7rii and I know it's not that fast ;)

well abu dhabi is a night racve so lets see :)

Any chance you can shoot a few shots at high ISO with both camera’s?
From what I’ve seen the A9 is better as it has less noise, but if you down sample the A7R III files to 24mp then it becomes equal.
DR is obviously better on the 42mp sensor.

If anyone is thinking of downsizing to Olympus M43 from an A7Rmk2 set up, please give me a shout/pm.. cheers

Ok cool I'll try tonight or tomorrow

@woof world on the street is that you have pre ordered the a7r3?

haha :D

I do enjoy my cameras and photography but I don't have a lot of time to do it so spending a lot doesn't seem justified and the cheap old lenses I buy seem to satisfy the gear lust in me. I've got another coming next week, cost me well under £100 :D

Other than gas the good old A7 does really do just about everything I want it to. To me the files are gorgeous and what I really need more than a new camera is time off and some good light. Maybe I'll buy something next year.

I don't think I've posted this before, a cold dull and almost deserted beach... A7 with 19mm Vivitar.

100% from that.

U seem to shoot a ton already! Stop making excuses and buy it!

I only get out maybe once a week or maybe once a fortnight and almost never by myself anymore as I'm married now :D

I only shoot single shot and mostly manual focus and 24mp is luxury :D so what extra would an A7RIII get me? :D

Might keep this version.

You get higher dynamics range especially since you shoot lots of landscapes :)

And the bigger battery etc you will love!

A couple from today, A7 and Minolta Rokkor 45mm f2.

I was planning to walk along this pipe but the tide wasn't low enough. Me and the pipe...

Oh for Gawd sake don't post it here... :D Oh, go on then :D

Pretty much everywhere, my suggestion for anyone buying is looking at specific retailers like wex and JL offering 2 years warranty rather than places like amazon that offer only 1. And with kit lens it's 369 most places.
