The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

And if you live anywhere near London, you are welcome to try my 16-35mm/4 or 85mm/1.8

perhaps just get the D850? you are pretty much guaranteed to be happy with it.

I was happy with my d750.... doh... knew it was a risky move. I want to give it the best chance though. p***ed I paid full going prices though.

Thanks guys :ty:got so much on though at the moment so it's unlikely.

Just a simple little picture but I like it :D

A7 and a manual lens but I forget which, either the Minolta 55mm f1.7 or Sigma 50mm f2.8.

It's via on sensor af so definitely doesnt have issues... If it was via DSLR it may need af adjust but not with on sensor phase... plus it's spot on with static/slower subject.... this is camera/adapted/condition related.
wait. what 35mm art lens you using? canon or nikon?

What adapter are you also using?

Get a D850 and call it a day

Oh dear...

I took my trio of C/Y Contax Zeiss lenses (Distagon 2.8/28 , Planar 1.7/50 and Sonnar 2.8/85) out with me this week and it's reminded me how much I really like them,

This has led to me reading lots of reviews of the Loxias; someone tell me this is a bad idea, please.

BTW, I've discovered the equivalent ZE and ZF lens profiles in Lightroom are pretty damn close to perfect at correcting their C/Y predecessors (which weren't bad to start with, but I am rather fussy about my straight lines being straight).

Shoot in MRaw, Nikon can finally do it now.

Did that on my 5D2 back in 2008....

Yeah but then what's the point in buying a high resolution body. ;)
I guess they are very different the D850 and A9, no doubt the replacement A7RIII will move the game on even further... I'm predicting a min of 50-70mp sensor. :D

Not sure how silly they will go with the sensor. But I think they will be speed things up.

and you need all 36mp? i.e. can't crop a little?
After thirty years of taking slides I tend to frame in-camera as much as possible but I crop whenever necessary. But 60mm just seems to give me the correct perspective on the minifigs while avoiding the rubbish in the background of our dining-room.

Why do you need AF?

I'm sure that the Loxias are lovely but maybe your Contax lenses have other charms?

Hi. I'm quite interested in the godox flash systems but they seem to be more popular in the US. Can't seem to find anyone here that sells them?

I tried the usual park camera etc and seems alien to them

The speedlights are available on Amazon, the bigger stuff is also available through Lencarta, The Flash Centre and also Essential Photo (branded Pixapro I think). I've got the tt350s and I've been pleased with it as a small lightweight flash

Nice I'll check out amazon for the speedlites

I'm not a great tripod lover but I came across Mefoto the other day and especially the "daytrip." I might be tempted. I can't remember the last time I used my Benbo, I remember the last time I took it out but I ended up just carrying it and never used it. At least the daytrip wouldn't be such a hassle to take and I might end up using it.

Do you lot use tripods much?

Mefoto daytrip and others...

Was actually looking at tripods while in park cameras on Friday. I rarely use mine as only use it for landscape stuff (which isn't often). It's so bloody heavy though and is huge. Very solid though and used to keep my d810 and 24-70 super stable.

I do really need to get rid though and find something smaller and more lightweight.

I use feisol tournament tripod. I got it because it was so light (just 1kg), stable and tall.

Actually the heavy part is the ballhead. I need to find a light one...

I had a Manfrotto, a conventional centre column through the legs design and it frustrated me no end because it just couldn't do anything. I ended up giving it away and I bought a second hand Benbo which suits me better. I went through a phase of using it but I haven't used it for ages.

PS.
I have a ball head and a geared.

Now you got me thinking what's a good light ball head for A7/A7RII with 16-35mm GM?

I currently have markins Q3i with quick release which is awesome but the problem is it weighs 1/3rd of what my tripods weight. I wonder if I can do better...

I use my tripod regularly. Quite like using it in fact.
