The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I though the Lens is a cracking lens so you saying if i had it on a A7rii it be quicker than it is on my A7ii

Ok so if I got a XT2 with the 50-140 Lens would that be a quicker combo than my current set up for AF

They do?

Still no sale. I'd much rather have my A7 :D

I think for your purpose it's the ideal setup, even now the A7 with the 35mm f2.8, 55mm 1.8 lenses is the smallest package vs FF IQ.

Personally I prefer the A7 gen two bodies for the ergonomics etc but you do lose the small form factor.

It's about technique too, I've easily tracked fast moving planes on my original A7 with 70-200mm f4 with good results.
Yes the A7RII is better than the A7II, it should be for the money! :D

Yes I'd say the XT-2 is currently the best mirrorless body for tracking.

It's just about the perfect blend of size and quality for me :D and why this thread and others time after time has to become the why not get a Fuji thread I don't know. You Fuji guys are either so envangelistic or so insecure that you need to shout it from the roof tops every 5 minutes. Get a room... or a thread for it guys :D

I've tracked running horses with my G1 and a manual lens.

Put my sony 70-200 F4 lens on this afternoon having a play with it to see if there is going to be anything i would miss.. This evening in lounge with lamps on the lens was struggling first time i notice think cos i not used it indoor before at evening mainly out door. I would of though it should be quick well was on the nikon.. won't if the xt2 be quicker i know it be lens related lol

I think u have your heart set on moving to Fuji and you are looking for reasons to to fault the gear and move.
It's not really a lens to use indoors under lamp light. - fast prime would do the job there.

It's a cracking lens. I haven't used it much on the a7ii but on the a7rii it's exceptionally sharp.

Oh yes it a sharp lens no doubt there.

No I am just weighing things up since I didn't get one today due to sold out.

I agree, it's a good blend.
I guess some owners are just enthusiastic but I wouldn't say I was any less enthusiastic with my Sony setup and predict I'll be the same once I've fully moved to Fuji.
It's all harmless fun there nothing wrong with shouting about it on here, after all it is a photography forum. :D

It's a very obvious comparison Sony and Fuji are leading the way in terms of mirrorless. It's only natural to compare. Just like canon and Nikon users have done so over the years.

Even you are learning something about Fuji as you didn't know they had front and rear dials. If you didn't know that there's probably loads you don't know about the system.

I don't think there's anything wrong with comparing the pros and cons of each system. They are only cameras, it's nothing personal.

What is making you change?
What don't you like about the A7II?

What making me change is

Better buttons layout out
Faster AF Eye focus tracking a7rii got it
And better Firnware updates Sony goes no where in this regard.

Button layout isn't that bad on the A7II, to be honest both systems are great, for me it was a multitude of reasons to make the change and it wasn't because the Sony was overly lacking anything.

Unless your little one is Usain Bolt I'd suggest it might be more to do with you or the settings than the camera. I've tracked my kids running with 25 year old AF film bodies so if you can't do it with an A7ii it's not the kit.

If u not had all those glasses would you of stick to Sony

Interesting question, for me it wasn't just about the body, it was the whole eco-system including the high quality lenses.... pointless in having a A7RII body with the rather poor 24-70mm f4 lens mounted on it, I love technology so I tried out all the Sony bodies and lenses fuelled partially by GAS :D

In the end I didn't go into full time photography as I originally planned which is why I bought the Sony gear, so I re-evaluated and decided the Fuji system will still live up to my needs and be a better overall system vs £££ invested, I should be a good few ££££ better off and still have a high quality Fuji glass/setup that can easily perform paid work if/when required.

So yes I would have probably still given up on Sony but not because it's rubbish ..... It was all down to economics and in my eyes my Sony setup was not worth 50% more in pounds vs the actual end result. (Image)

The Sony system is fab, but then so is the Fuji...... different systems for different people.
:D

A7rii & tamron 150-600 via fotodiox adapter. at the long end. Manual focus. Then went silly with the crop.

I think the shot above was also cropped. Am on my phone so not sure where the original is.

Full moon just appears for a few seconds had to be quick before the clouds came back

I shot it with MFT and 200mm lens.

Shots came out ok which is amazing considering how much I've drunk :D

I know this is a gear forum and if we can afford it it is harmless fun but some people get caught up in it all and end up spending more than is sensible. I'm sure we've all seen people flip flop between perfectly good cameras and lenses and get no further forward and no happier. Not talking about you here but maybe you see my point or maybe it's just that I don't suffer from too much GAS. I'm lucky, I tend to keep kit for years.

For some (certainly those than can afford it) trying out new kit is part of the hobby although I agree with you that some can spend far too much at times!
