The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Okay guys so you have me wondering now re the charger i bought the camera of Panamoz and asked before purchase if it came with charger was told yes. Camera came but thinking back charger was not in main box and looking at it its not Sony branded just called travel charger so i guess i was lucky still charges 100% and i also got the USB connector but would not normally risk them

Panamoz do list the A7R2 with the BC-VW1 charger.

There have been many comments in this thread about how overpriced the A7 series bodies and lenses are and how scarce the overpriced lens choices are but all that's over now with the announcement of the new Hasselblad X1D and two lenses.

The A7 series is now the budget option with plentiful lenses.

The Hasselblad looks lovely though.

:D

Over at Luminous Landscape they say they wouldn't be surprised if these fly off the shelves.

The new Zeiss 18mm Batis looks like being an excellent lens - sharp at the edges fully open & a great depth of field when closed down a few stops.
Here is one taken with it yesterday with the Sony A7RM2 + Zeiss Batis 18mm lens.( I know its not a great image but it shows how good the contrast is on the lens)

Just a heads up a7ii with Zeiss going into classifieds tomorrow both mint con ;-) hope your all well

Got that tough choice to make soon, how much of my camera gear do i take on holiday with me. The A7R and 16-35 are going, that leaves the flash, 35 f2.8 and 24-70 f4. I'm very tempted to leave the 24-70 at home.

Depends on the size of your bag. I imagine all that will fit in a standard camera backpack.

Nope only one zoom will fit along with either the 35 or flash. I wouldnt be carrying it all round all the time anyway, i like to leave space for a bottle of water.

Where are you heading too?

Went here back in April and it was a horrible day, a bit better today...

April / today :D

And just for fun as I've been comparing gear this is from my GX7 and 17mm f1.8.

And back to the A7 :D

Where is that please Alan?

Thought for a minute they had moved Bow Creek to the countryside, looks familiar, just can't place it

Staithes, just a nice ride out in my MX5 for me :D

I do try not to pixel peep but the files are just lovely :D 100% crops from the A7 and 35mm f2.8, they're via photobucket so will not be as nice as on my screen...

I have just noticed there is now a multi exposure app from Sony Playmemories store that works on the A7RM2 - can I download and pay for it ? No way - the camera connection via USB is not recognised so I then talked to Sony tech help - they tell me this is very common - what is a company like Sony playing at when it can't organise a simple download - I'm amazed !

Take it you used the original cable? Had this with mobiles before and it was the cable at fault.

Sony Tech help said not to use the cable but use WiFi - it seems a cable connection between an A7 type camera and a a PC often fails - I told them in had never failed on my Canon but they don't seen to care - I have to say that their tech help at Sony is total rubbish.
I love the camera but Sony support leaves a lot to be desired.

But it's not a Canon, it's a Sony? I've always used wifi on my A6K rather than a cable with no problems. Maybe Sony is just using more modern connectivity than Canon?

Also, the tech support advised you according to their knowledge, not sure why that makes them poor?

If it helps I have never connected any of my ones with a cable ever and always used wifi for the apps

I've only ever installed an app using the wifi connection directly from my camera. Have you tried that instead of using the cable?

I think some of you may have miss understood me. So to clarify - yes I can download apps by wifi BUT the Sony website points you to doing this via USB cable which very few people can get to work. Not a good advertisement for Sony.

Yep the manual also says about connection the cable to transfer photos yet 99% use a card reader.... apples and oranges tbh .... look at the d500 wifi calims lol

Yesterday I was on assignment at Ace Cafe London and met another photographer, who had Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM.
I asked him to borrow the lens for a few minutes and test it - Sony A7R II + Sigma MC-11.
Focus - is not lightning fast, but I heard this lens is not fast focusing in general.
Focus is accurate, and almost no hunting at all. (Good light conditions, outdoor)
Tested only on static objects and only a few photos

That lens works really well with the metabones.

Sony have announced a delay for the FE 70-200mm f2.8 GM & TC's until September.
Also the Zeiss Batis 18mm has been delayed until August.
