It should be quite easy to just pass over a post in a relatively busy thread if you find it repetitive but if people choose not to and choose instead to kick off and start getting personal then we can't be too surprised if the mods then come along.

Personally I think it's a shame to create to the point of getting someone banned if only from one thread or for a short period of time but as I've said before sometimes it's hard to believe we're all adults here.

I suppose one consideration is what focal length lenses you're going to use and at what shutter speed you want to shoot. I don't find IS a must, I used to think I did but IS doesn't necessarily help too much if your subject might move.
 
That's a good point actually. With my X-T1 I don't really go below 1/50th except with OIS lenses, although I have gone down to 1/30th inside a museum in Istanbul with my 14mm. The A7 is lighter which is not always a good thing for handholding at slow shutter speeds, but I'd imagine it would be fine with the 35 f2.8 or 55 f1.8. Something like the 70-200 f4 would be a different matter though.

The 70-200 f4 is an OSS lens, I use the A7 with this and the stabilisation is superb
 
Bulkier but not unbalanced, I do remove the tripod collar when using it handheld, as it fee!s in the way

The thinking is often that you need the shutter speed to equal the focal length but personally I don't usually find 1/50 enough for 35 or 50mm and I tend to want to be up around 1/80 to 1/100 and probably faster if at all possible if there are people in the shot. Going to or longer than about 85mm I'd want to shoot faster and could see the advantages of IS.

Another consideration is how high you are willing to let the ISO rise and the implications for shutter speed and IS.

I probably haven't helped :D Just lots to think about :D

I like the fact that the A7 is physically smaller and lighter but I like the IBIS in the A7II. I try to keep my ISO as low as possible and don't use auto ISO because of this unless it's a sunny day. I guess another question would be just how good is the IBIS compared with the stability in the lenses? Fuji lenses with OIS are superb, so I'd imagine Sony OSS lenses are also excellent. I'd imagine the A7/A7II has better high ISO performance so it would be ok to use a higher shutter speed at the expense of a slightly higher ISO.

Getting someone banned? People get themselves banned, it is a shame when it gets to that point though.

Not all Fuji lenses have ois as you know. With the a7ii every lens will be stabilised.

Better af and better build quality than the a7. I'd go for the a7ii unless you can find a bargain used a7.

I bought a camera and lens to go on my last holiday :D

And The Weather... Gutted as I've been busy but worked things so I could go out today and after days of sunshine and nice weather it's raining, the hills are invisible and the sky is an endless featureless grey card. Oh well, I'll try for Monday now.
 
Panamoz have it for £799 at the minute, seems a good price.
 
On Friday I received my second hand 35mm from MPB, it is in great condition and all seems fine with it. It's very compact compared to the 55mm and 24-70 that I've already got, and it certainly makes the camera seem a lot smaller. Tried it out today in less than idea conditions and the IQ seems really good, certainly good enough for everyday snaps as today was. The 55mm obviously offers more artistic control with the 1.8 and the 55 seems to have more of a creative feel to the photos it takes, (can't really describe it properly). But the 35 is more versatile and with it been smaller, wider and still great IQ it will become my go to lens for family days out. The 55 will come with me when I'm 'doing' photography. And the 24-70 will just come on trips away in the car in case I need the wider end- I used to love a good zoom but really enjoy using primes now and making the photo with them.

My A7ii is my days out/family camera and I think that the 55mm is a must buy and then the 35mm a must buy, in that order. I'd definitely recommend the 35mm to anyone who thinks they want/need it.

Same thoughts on weather for me really poor sky and light Saturday and Sunday

I bought the 55 and then the 35. I think they're both very good lenses :D

I've managed to use my MFT kit recently but I haven't used my A7 for a while but I'm hoping for time out to coincide with nice weather this week :D Fingers crossed for the weather :D

The problem is not just cloudy it's just flat I don't have dehaze at the moment though have used it and found it helps in cases that a polarised filter might have been useful it saved the day.

Saturday in my area NE same as woof woof was more mist and fog, Sunday and now Monday rain. Just unfortunate that little summer weather pops out

I really like mine on the A7m2 if I recall you have the A7R I find even with my fewer pixels I can crop in and really keep sharpness and the colour the lens offers great walk about if you're willing to crop in
 
So I've either lost, or our daughter has "organised" (i.e put in a bin/shoe/bag/other) the lens cap for my CZ 35mm f/2.8. Does anyone know where to get a replacement from? Just the cap, not the hood. Some say it's the same cap as at the 16-50 which seems er... wrong.

Speak to WEX (they do bits and pieces) or Sony.

I'm not going to even think about picking up a camera for outdoor use today. No point. If I was in a different place I might / would but I've shot my area in this flat dead no sky light a thousand times. I'll save my day out for another day.

I agree I just had my dogs on the sands at the Gare returning I could not even see the old Steel works and they are darned large :D

Ordered it this morning from Panamoz, already got my tracking number so should be here on Wednesday. I do tend to favour the wider end.
