Too many 35mm choices... if we add the Sigma 35mm and the old manual 35mm...
We need a 135mm fast native auto-focus lens (at least me) and I suspect the next Batis will be this one.
With the Batis price unfortunately :)

FWIW the FDn 24mm f/2.8 is pretty good and better than the 28/2.8. IIRC the 2.8 was the second cheapest in Canon's range after the 50/1.8, which accounts for why you see so many of them. My experience with it is mostly on film, though.

Still, not a bad lens for very little cash. I'd be happy at £59 for a NOS example.

As an alternative you can always use the Batis 85 in crop mode to get roughly 135mm

Thanks, nice images too.

I checked an old camera storage box today and to my surprise it contained a Canon fd 24mm f/2.8 lens that I didn't know I had :D

The 28mm arrived today, boxed, instructions etc, Kind of odd looking at a vintage lens but as new :)
 
AFAK 28's were made in huge numbers and sold at a lower price, the 24's cost more and are a bit rarer.

I have the FD, Rokkor and Zuiko 28's and Rokkor and Zuiko 24's but I wouldn't say there's anything between them at least not in a whole image. One reason I went for the Rokkor 24mm was that I read that it was a classic design, one of the best ever designs, but I'm not too sure it'll match a modern 24mm :D I'm pretty sure Leica pinched it for their system too.

I understand the I can't use my Safari 600's with HSS so they may have to go. Are there any battery powered moonlights that will work with the Godox system. Need to get sorted asap...

I bought the flash and trigger from amazon. Not had a chance to try the HSS yet but looking to do so on Friday.

But you won't be changing on filter you'll be changing camera exposure. Just another way around your problem.

I have that flash and trigger and I'm very happy with them.

If it helps (as you're in Cornwall as well) you're welcome to pop over and try mine? I'm in Roche
 
I'm very tempted by the A6000 as they seem to be bargains now and they often crop in the for sale section but I have just enough cameras and another third system (I have my A7 and 3 MFT cameras) would be silly.

Still tempted though :D

I'm going to buy an A6000 soon.

My A7ii is my only camera and it would be nice to have a smaller option sometimes. I'll just buy a single small prime (probably one of the Sigmas) to use it as a walkabout.

Plus I want a second camera for video making and don't want to buy another set on lenses.

Seems to fit the bill :)
 
The A6000 and Sony 50/1.8 is a brilliant combo and my only digital kit now (along with a Samyang 12mm, 16-50 kit and 35/1.7 CCTV lens). I'd definitely recommend it alongside and A7. It's not as if you're buying into a completely different system when you can use your FE lenses if you don't want to start buying E mount although you obviously lose some of the benefits of the smaller camera then!

Prices seem to have dropped for the A7 - would that be the best bang for your buck? Has anyone gone from A7 to A7II and glad they did? (Or wished they'd stuck with the A7)?

A7 prices have been pretty stable tbh. Theyve hot 'that' price point.

I went from a A7 to A7II, IQ wise I couldn't tell the difference....
 
You wouldn't because they're the same sensor aren't they? The A7ii just has a bigger grip and better AF.

No, its metal, but under the metal, a plastic layer, from the A7s onwards its reinforced.
 
I had for a brief period an A6000, A7 and A7r. I was carrying all three with lenses in my kit bag and decided when I got the 70-200 G lens that I'd get rid of my A6000, (and e mount lenses) so easier to carry the A7 & A7r around with FE lenses.

The A6000 was a great little camera though :)
 
There were reports of A7 mount problems with larger lenses but you can buy a little kit to make it strong enough to hang a battleship from.

I have a pretty complete MFT kit of G1, G7 and GX7 and all do different things for me. I use the G1 with an old film era 50mm macro and for when I'm in the rougher end of town, I like tha G7 for using my 12-35mm f2.8 and I like the GX7 with primes when I want a small camera.

I have 14, 17, 25 and 45mm primes, two different 14-42mm zooms, 12-35mm, 9-18mm and 45-200mm so ditching all those bodies and lenses would be a pita.

I do like the look of the A6xxx's and I'd like the dof and exposure preview and auto iso with compensation in all modes and my mft cameras don't have these festures but I just have too much mft stuff now. Also I'd want a Sony 24mm f1.8 and the only one they do is a big fat lump which would mske the bulk not a long way off my A7 and 35mm f2.8.

I might weaken and jump from mft to A6xxx one day but not at the moment. The mft G7 in particular is a really good camera, the GX7 has its faults but also has its charms and both have reasonable iq and dr so it's a difficult decision.

Andrew, ask whatever you want and if anyone has a pop at you use the ignore feature. Problemo solved.
 
So with a price difference of around £300-£400 (?) it probably makes more sense to pay the extra and get the A7II with IBIS, a better mount and better grip?
