The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I think if you do a lot of landscapes etc its prob worth it if you don't have a wide angle ....... lol you want all the batis .....................

nope lol...................

18mm is a very specialised lens imho
I take a lot of landscape shots at around 18mm so might be interested. There will have to be a very noticeable difference though between it and say the Canon 16-35 f4 or Sony 16-35 f4 to justify the probable cost. Although cost will probably be comparable to the Sony as it's already a lot IMO so if it's better IQ wise then it could be a good choice for me. Maybe. Decisions lol

always used stiching tbh if I don't have a wide enough lens ... saves an awful lot of cash lol .... but don't let me stop you lol

I use stitching quite often tbh. Not ideal if doing long exposure with clouds etc though.
correct mate.. I don't do many tbh.... lol..... I do have the canon wide though so I'm covered if I do

Mmmmm ultimate Zeiss Batis collection =

Batis 18mm f2.8
Batis 25mm f2.0
Batis 35mm f1.8
Batis 50mm f1.8
Batis 85mm f1.8
Batis 105mm f2.8 Macro
Batis 135mm f2.8
Batis 200mm f2.8

:)

I do wonder how some of you lot get all this past your other halves, but...

Years ago I was into cars and gf couldn't tell a Porsche from a Merc, seriously she couldn't even if parked side by side, unless they were different colours. My other half now does seem to be camera blind and so far hasn't realised I have more than one.

I like primes but you'd spend more time switching lenses than actually taking pictures!

I know your post is partly joking but if you're seriously building up a wedding kit, think about those focal lengths you actually use and don't just try to fill your bag. Trust me, you don't want to be agonising over the 'right' focal length mid-shoot when you've got to go with the day.

Your right, that's why I'm considering the new Sony 24-70mm and 70-200mm f2.8 G Masters too lol :)

Care to guess how much it'd be?
given sony pricing it would be 3k and weigh a 2kgs lol... seriously it would be big heavy and expensive.... do you think they will release a set of g primes ?????

45.5mp BSI CMOS with on-board DRAM
Dual-Bionz X Processors
15fps RAW with 100 shot buffer
4D AF (A6300) with Eye-AF
Dual SD UHS III slots
4 million pixel 240fps with 100% coverage
4 million pixel touch-screen OLED screen
Full weather sealing
5-axis IBIS Gen 2
New Menu & GUI system
WiFi & NFC
New Application system with ability to ftp photos via integrated 4G (sim required)
Built-in commander for new Sony 2.4Ghz wireless flash system(s)

Did I miss anything :)
Your wish list?

Can't really see too much of a pattern in what they're doing, their lens releases seem all over the place to me. Three Sony lens designations so far is it? If the GM line is a runaway success I can see them adding to the range but they're just as likely to do something else. Still, makes life exciting :D

I wonder if Sony offer 3 years warranty on the G Masters?
Zeiss support and warranty will be better imo.
Batis come with 3 years warranty :)

amusingly half the length of a tamon, which is 5 or 6 years?

the 85mm batis was a tamron design...

I'm sure Tamron got paid nicely for the design ;)
Zeiss is quality :)

With IQ like this out of the Batis what more can one need? :)
Telephoto would be nice over 200mm ;-) lol seriously though batis IQ is fantastic sony obv feel like their gm 85mm can compete tho...

The 85mm f1.4 GM is better obviously being £600-700 more expensive but the Batis has a warmer colour to it, it's no slouch. :)

Tbh I think it may be down to taste, rather than "better". The zeiss lenses do tend to give a swirly bokeh effect - which I find really nice.

Now they are great eyes. Looks like you've got a cute little model there.
Very nice (cropped) image :)

Thank you. Got a couple of shots but she wasn't in the mood and I spent far more time setting and packing the gear up than actually shooting
