The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Probably not, but choice is good :)

On another subject I had another look at the Samyang 14mm and saw the deal breaker for me. Filters.
I mainly shoot landscape and love using filters. The Samyang solution to this is ridiculous IMO.

So I still need (want) a wide lens (that takes a conventional filter holder). Any suggestions?

I'd prefer not to go for the Sony 16-35 as I'd prefer a prime. Kind of tempted to go with my original plan of buying the Batis 25mm and hoping something great between 14-16mm gets released maybe towards the end of the year. Now a 14-16mm Loxia, that would be about perfect (probably).
Try the batis. Is it not wide enough for now?

I have been experimenting with the Sky HDR app that's available on playmemories and first impressions are that for landscapes with a tripod it makes filters completely redundant; costs a lot less too.

Doesn't the Sky HDR app just kind of replace a grad? (hope I'm wrong here)
I like to use ND filters a lot, especially a 6, 10 and 16 stop for different water and cloud effects. Can that app do this as well? (guess I'll be downloading this today and trying it :))

The Batis 18mm is due in April ;)

I like the idea of the 18mm Batis, but wouldn't buy the 18mm and 25mm as a bit to close IMO. For me a 25mm and say a 16mm (any good 16) would be a good combo.

Yes I think it would be fine for now and it seems a great lens from all the reviews I've seen. How are you finding yours?

Hi everyone, I've Just changed to a Sony A7ii & the Zeiss 24-70 from a Fuji XT-1 and various lenses and was wondering about an adapter for my Lee filters (100mm)
has anyone used these filters with this lens, can you tell me if I will need the wide angle adaptor or will the standard one do the job, I will be using the holder with just one slot
and the slim polariser.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Regards Bob

Battery grip just arrived (Meike version).

It's actually really nice. Good match, fit's perfect, feels good - pretty pleased with it :).

The grip doesn't need to be switched on unless the buttons on it are being used, so if just using the camera an usual it can be left off. Both inserted batteries are now showing on the camera display. The remote it nice as well. Works great the same as normal cable release. Only difference is when using Bulb mode for a long exposure, hold the shutter button down for a second or so to make it start the exposure, then press again when you want it to stop. It has a digital timer on the display as well which is useful.

Its brilliant. very light yet quality built. focuses blooming fast in low light(see pic of that portrait i took of my cousin outside with just street lights on)

This could replace my 35 ART for the a7r2 anyway as i like shooting wider then 50mm.

Hasnt left my camera besides one time when i needed wider.

Last night i took a few tets shots on my 85mm and put my 25mm back on today and left the 85mm at home lol

Have u a few pictures head on, side and top with it on your camera pls?

I'll take a few and get them posted Andrew.

Jonney - thanks for the images. The second one answered a little doubt in the back of my mind perfectly. I think I'll be going for the Batis 25mm, unless there is an unexpected announcement next week from CP+ which I doubt.

What doubt did you have?

Not a doubt so much, I just wanted to see an image taken at the settings that I'd typically take a landscape shot ;)

Here are the pictures you wanted - but you're not allowed to judge them :) (I really don't get on with the Missus's camera)

I'm not buying it. Just interesting to see which retailer stock them.

The sigma 85 1.4 arrived for my Nikon (sorry!!) today. I have it adapted to my a7rii at the mo.

Des it make sense to have a f1.8 and a f1.2? What's the advantage? f1.2 too big for everyday use maybe?
1.2 is heavier yes mate. That lives in my studio. Even before I had a a7 series camera I only ever used it in the studio with my canon. It's a specialised lens

Yes that what I am hoping for if I get one as hate that bold white writing knowing my luck I get it with writing on

Someone must of grabbed it as gone
