The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

An EVF more accurate than your eye, I dont think so.

Well tbh an optical vf isn't your eye either.

It's your eye looking through the lens aperture with the included losses of the bits and pieces used to enable you to be able to see the image.

The fact is that I can see more with a good EVF than I ever could through any optical vf camera I've ever used.

As I've said before on this matter, maybe I do better than some with EVF's because I spend decades staring at screens during my time in electronics. Maybe I can relate and visualise in a way that some maybe can't. Whatever the reason, I see the advantages of EVF's and the A7 one is adequate and better than any OVF camera I've used. Future EVF's will only get better but even now I think we're at a tipping point where for some an EVF is possibly the better option.

YMMV, fair enough, go buy a Nikon DSLR :D

Its much closer than a TV screen. Better refresh rate, no lag, less black out, more dynamic range, no pixelation.

Ive spent my entire life looking at screens, I think most people have. For some the EVF may be the better option and I never argued that.

I already have one and an A7, but you already knew that.

can optical viewfinder show correct exposure based on camera settings and dof. No don't think so

Do I need it to? My camera meters correctly, I have a histogram and if it bothers me that much Ill use more advanced metering for highlights or use live exposure.

Your camera doesn't show it correctly and sometimes you want to under or overexposed. Cant see how the shot will look until you take it. Seriously dude EVF is easier and as someone pointed out. Is a godsend for low light photography

Actually it does with live exposure. I can adjust in post or rely on my metering and experience. Got to be pretty useless to completely stuff up an exposure that cant be fixed.

Seriously, if you dont know how to use your camera or rely on its various modes or PP then its "easier".

The best thing about an EVF IMO is the focus aids and image playback on a very bright day.

Then your crippled with s*** af on live view. Yet in EVF it's all the same but better.
End of the day EVF can read the scene exposure more accurate then a ovf which is my main point.

But I never need it, if I did I'd just use the live view implementation. End of the day, to me it doesn't matter at all and ive explained why. I know how to use my camera and work in post. That's my main point.

Like I said + and -. Both are good but I still have a slight preference.

Rookies Gary Friedman rates the phase one and said its worth the 35 quid for pro, however if you can just buy LR it's all you need really.

Anyway off to get in bath , Leeds to Microsoft reading and back has tired me out 451 miles sighhhhh...... Tomorrow is toss it off day..

Anyway we gonna have a northern meet up then an idea for the future say around Leeds Sheffield areas.....? What u all think..

Seen people getting cc for £6 something through a link from Fuji film. Wouldn't though this work if not a Fuji camer or need proof of purchase

You should come to my part of the world... empty beaches, cliffs, moorland, moving bridges, no crowds, 4 deg c and raining, 100mph winds... certainly enough to tax your skills and abilities.

Already fancying a 70-200 f4. As 2,8 will break the bank when out. Is there a site about the new lens coming out?

55 1.8 is my favourite.
I have the 70-200 f4. Haven't used it much but it's nice a lights, sharp and renders decent bokeh.

At the moment I'm using the 35mm f2.8.

Anyone using a screen protector?

I had one and one corner lifted just a bit in the hot and humid atmosphere of Thailand in the summer and when out yesterday the wind got under it and it was gone... and probably chocked a goose in Norway later that evening. I'll have to fit another.

I bought the semi hard one from Clifton cameras the sony one think it was only a 10er

Where you get it from pls.

I just bought my Sony screen protector from Amazon, make sure it's the one for the RX100 series and not standard A7, the old A7 one doesn't fit correctly on the A7II bodies
