I do think this thread has the most amount of 'if only' type posts rather than people just getting out and appreciating the quality of the kit they actually have in their hands. It feels like Sony's short period between new bodies is fuelling the sometimes ridiculous amount of GAS leading to people agonising over the smallest of details instead of just shooting. That's not aimed at anyone in particular, just an observation.

I can understand that as I do it myself but I do usually manage to see the bigger picture :D The obsessing over card slots, battery life and Nikon's / Fuji's being better just washes over me after a time and it's something that we seem to go through every few pages. Such is life or rather such is life with Sony :D

I managed a few hours out by myself today for the first time in weeks so obviously there was horizon to horizon cloud cover, no clue at all where the sun was, flat dead light and not much point pressing the shutter button. At times the wind and rain/sleet was so strong I could hardly stand up and the clouds only cleared for a few short minutes but by that time I'd been there 4 hours and felt half dead :( Roll on my next holiday abroad :D

The 35mm f2.8 continues to impress me, it's a very nice lens and very sharp.







This was quite interesting. See the circular pattern around the seaweed? There were a few of these.

Anyway everyone I've joined the A7ii club am now a proud owner of one with the 55mm 1.8 lens. What a cracking lens it is.

So far am impress really like this camera. Just need some lovely weather now. For a good test.

Want some spare batteries now and a charger :)
 
Well am sure I will last a outing but like to have a spare incase. Think they allowed 350 images??

Depends on how you use the camera, some users have seen easily over 600 shots on one battery with left over.
The Nikon D750 is a good camera, be interesting how you get on with the A7II long-term. :)

600 shots, I manage more like 300-350 max.

DSLR's offer me nothing. Imagine going back to shooting with a big heavy camera that doesn't take its focus off the chip and doesn't show you the image you're about to capture... madness :D but I'm happy for others to make the decision that's right for them :D

However, imagine having a camera that:

- you have to change the battery on all the time
- is not weather sealed
- where what you look at through the viewfinder is a computers interpretation of the image, not your own

Have a search on line but off the top of my head turn on airplane mode helps etc.
It's not a big issue, just carry a spare as they are small enough. :)

Thats mine with airplane, genuine batteries, have you ever seen 600? I havent after owning 4x various A7 cameras and I tend to conserve by powering down.

It doesn't bother me if I get 350 or 600 shots and its not something I write down, I am just saying that some have seen better results etc.

Battery according to CIPA is 340 shots. I think 600 is highly optimistic, possibly 400-450.

I got nearly 500 when doing street photography :550 but when was cold got 400

Yesterday when I had a free day there was complete cloud cover, almost a hurricane and dull flat light and today when I'm not free there's actually some sun. Still windy though.

I think I'll email God and complain.

- I was out most of the day yesterday and took something between 80 and 100 shots and even after shooting at home and showing the pictures on the back screen and loading them onto the pc etc I still have 60% charge in the same battery. I didn't need the spare I had in my pocket.

- Yesterday I spent the day outside including over 4 hours on a beach. It was raining and blowing a gale and there was water and sleet and sand everywhere and my camera and lens survived.

- What I see when I look at the EVF is a pretty good rendition of the scene but with exposure and dof and helpful information that a conventional optical system just can't to date match.

I assume you're a DSLR shooter?

Enjoy guessing what your final image will look like and carry on chimping and reshooting!

Since I have had this camera I been using the Capture One 9 Express that us sony user can use.. As any of you used it and what you reckon...

Only use LR, I tried it but like lightroom catalogues etc. for my workflow.

I don't have to change battery all the time. I have shot in the rain and the Evf is more accurate then a optical viewfinder
