The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Very nice. I have 7 50mm lenses so I really don't need another but I am tempted by the thought of a modern manual 50mm lens.

I'm on me way over Owen, to teach you how to put bin bags in :)

cracking lens for the money I cant knock it I had a manual focus zeiss f2 canon mount was shocking so sold it last year this Samyang is well beyond it cant really believe it for £160 ish quid lol

Any more raw images people can send like over 6400 pls?

I try not to tbh. But how do you shoot in low light ie indoor with table lamp on??

Just on the subject of using higher ISO settings...

I tend to use them as a means of getting the shot whilst using smaller than wide open apertures.

The last time I took my old 5D out for night time shooting was when on a fishing trip in Kazakhstan a few years ago and as you'd expect I was shooting at the cameras max ISO (3200) and at f1.4 to keep my shutter speed up as fishermen and fish tend to move :D I find having to shoot wide open restrictive and limiting.

With the A7 I can shoot at f1.2 if I want to but I like having the option of shooting at smaller apertures to get a decent depth of field. The results might not be gallery quality but after processing they're fine for me actually they're fine for the people who've seen them :D

In post capture processing I normally just use my standard noise reduction settings but I do often back the exposure off a bit post capture as I find that the camera tends to capture the scene rather more brightly than my eyes see it. I find that resizing the image also helps noise performance.

Considered an A7s?

D750 will probably be your best option. Renowned for being good in low light. All round excellent camera. Might be heavier than the sonys but if you are shooting indoors under table lamps the weight/size is irrelevant.

I'm sure I read somewhere that if you resize an A7rII shot to match an A7sII shot there's nowt in it noise wise?

The size is for when I take out and about. I am
Only allowed one camera

When abroad like sea front boat harbour. Ideally am I being silly wanting high iso as most people cope up to 6400??

But why would you need high ISO if youre using a lens with VR/IS or have IBIS? What percentage of your shots are that case? Buy the right lenses and that also makes a difference, there are ways around bumping the shutter up. Unless youre taking photos of something moving in low light you dont really need huge ISO. There are also tripods and things to prop your camera on, ledge, posts, table etc etc.

If youre asking about hi iso and 6400+ usage cases as a main criteria you mustve run into these issues before and figured out ways around them? No offense but your posts read as if Hi ISO is the only/most important thing.

Yes that why I am considering the Sony for the IBIS as this would help me

The pages don't seem to be correct on the talk photography app

Are these noisy with shutter

ah, maybe aim for dates then? Page 63 on my screen is 1st December 2014 and page 71 is 20th February 2015.

Sorry what your Flickr not showing on talk app on iPad

Yes I did

My mistake

A7ii owners show me some your best shots and possibly low light ones at ISO 6400 pls

Am talking A7ii here think your using A7rii so bit hard to compare

Cheers pal can't fault that image at all. So a A7ii should be slightly better if at all?

Thinking selling d750 going A7ii

You care to comment?? Think it smaller size and ibis that pulls me

honestly @rookies get a7s if high iso is your main priority like I said to you earlier in a pm a7ii is a cracking camera I cant vouch for the kit lens as don't own it but if I go over 10000 ish iso I always use a flash mate ;-)

cant sue flash to lite a whole scene bro :)

i only use flash for studio work

I have the 28-70mm and it sits in a drawer unused... as I tend to use primes. It is however a good lens IMO and if anyone is happy to use a "standard" f3.5-5.6 zoom then IMO it does a good job.

but @jonneymendoza lets be fair with a 1.2 or 1.4 aperture to need to shoot over iso 12800 your shooting in crazy light I use a flash at weddings and low light portraits but agreed with a scene but I would tripod that

found a 128k ISO shot.

clean as someone just coming out of a nice long shower
