The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Fotodiox adapter (canon to e mount) arrived today. Well built, but no caps??

Tried it on the canon 100mm l macro. Autofocus is terrible. Granted I've have only tried it indoors but looks like I'll be sticking to manual focus. Not quite sure how Brian Smith Came to the conclusion that it's "fast and accurate" autofocus.

Mate switch the af to phase only.

any update on if you got it working? I think I just bought a kit lens off another forum just so I have a native in the bag :-)

It's not auto focusing at all. Just hunts without locking on. The lens works nicely in manual focus. So looks like I'll be sending it back and look for a used metabones.
I bought this adapter following reading a compatibility list by Brian smith. It's should work with the lens I have. So perhaps I have a dud one..

Nice to see Sony have all but forgotten us gen one owners. Really bugs me about them, soon as the latest is out that's it for the old.

I've always had a 24-70 in my arsenal however the A7Rii is the first system I have not due to the 'softness' compared to other main brand lenses. I've not used one and do not want to risk it so I am sticking to primes and waiting for this elusive f2.8 zoom that is apparently being announced in Jan....

....however please report on your experience with it

I probably won't have time to update mine until after the guy in the red suit's been

Apologies for the photos - trying to keep this thread going. I'm going to update the A7Rii's firmware tonight.
No need to apologise, they're very interesting... just wish I knew what they are :D

Monkeys everywhere in Thailand. This would be a bizarre sight at Saltburn though.

They're not cute, they've vicious little chavs. This little b'stard tried to attack me. If I hadn't been with three Buddhists I'd have had him for supper.

Maybe.

They didn't seem to be bothering the food selling street vendors, maybe they're a bit more willing to give them a whack.

Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki released an interview to the Taiwanese site Mobile01. And he also talks about Sony:

  1. To us, it is very clear that Sony will be the major player in the photo industry. Because they have sensor technology. In order to differentiate the products. the sensor and lens are the most important. Other things can be shared by other companies. I think in the photo industry who has a good technology of making good sensor and lens could survive. That is why we acquired the Foveon company and try to retain the technology to us.
  2. He also recognizes that there is a big request from many countries to make Sigma FE lenses. And when asked if he will do it he simply answeredEverything is possible“.
Oh Goodie :D Now just go and do it :D

Here's the full thing...

I would have thought from the get go they would be prepared to make lenses for the FE system, just a case of making sure it survives and so far its proved popular. I would never in a million years choose a Sony for pro work though, they just don't care about their legacy customers. They treat the camera market like they do the mobile phone market, each year make the previous years obsolete. Its very alien to me that approach in my business you support a product for a minimum of 17 years.
They should dedicate a few people to making improvements to old products.
