So, is the Sony A7R the best value full frame body out there for around £1300?
Or, do you need to factor in the the extra costs, like flash and lens adaptors?
I think it represents excellent value for money, but have not yet decided to put my money up front.

I think it's over £1,600. The A7 is under £1,300.

You need to look at whether the system as a whole works, check accessories and make sure the lens roadmap meets your needs.
 
I did a bit of research on Panamoz, and I'm struggling to find any negative feedback that isn't years old. The A7 with kit lens is £400 cheaper than Amazon. That's quite a saving....
 
I got all my gear from Panamoz, A7R +35mm, also got my 24-70 F4 from them as well. Excellent company.
 
It's hard to find anything about experiences when there is a problem within the warranty period though with Panamoz, which is the only thing that slightly puts me off, being a cautious type... :)
 
From what i have read there great when it comes to warranty you send to a uk address and they do the rest.
 
"I've also had a warranty claim with Panamoz, a Sigma 150-500 OS had developed a problem after 11 months, and I contacted Panamoz by email. I was given a UK address to send the lens to, which I did with RMSD, and thought I was in for a long wait. However, after only a week I got an email asking me to confirm my address as they were sending a brand new lens out instead of having it repaired. It arrived at my door after only 11 days since I first contacted them which is much faster than some warranty claims I've had from the UK. Apparently, if I'd included a receipt for the postage it cost to send it RMSD they would of reimbursed that as well but I didn't know that at the time, but as the service was so good anyway I can live with that."

Anyway enjoy the camera when you get it.
On a plus side im loving the 24-70 definitely not as bad as some are making out, IMO its an excellent zoom, i think some were expecting prime quality.

Just to add got my A7 and kit lens from Panamoz too. Will probably get my next lens (either 55mm or 35mm) from them too

Both of those lenses are cheaper at One Stop Digital ;)
I'm tempted to get the 35mm too. I also would love a Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.5 Aspherical.

Very interested in the A7, but have a question.

I currently shoot a NEX 6. I know it says that the A7 can use existing E mount lenses, but is that made possible by a crop mode or will a sigma 30mm 2.8 E mount give me true 30mm on the A7 with no cropping involved?
 
The 30mm is an aps-c lens.
You can either use it in crop mode or it will vignette on full frame but you will get ~37mm if you crop in pp

The OSS system works brilliantly can really see it work when you half press the shutter. Build quality is as with the 35mm nice solid feel rings are smooth only a very minimal amount of barrel movement when extended. Im looking forward to using it.

Where did you buy this Rob? Panamoz are out of stock. I'm getting t'urge to buy autofocus now.....oh dear.
 
Got it from Panamoz when they very first got them in stock.
 
Just come across a Sony Alpha 7 with a 18-55mm lens for €599 (£493) in Lanzarote. I have read some good reviews on this camera but wasn't really in the market for one. At this price I'm very tempted. I'm only here for the week on holiday

Thats a bit odd, its incredibly cheap and the A7 doesnt come with an 18-55. Do you mean an nex7?
 
Must be a different camera, it's far to cheap and comes with a lens for apsc. Sony haven't dones themselves any favours with the renaming.
 
I saw the price tag, but not the camera. When I enquired the shop owners said that they had sold well- flown out of the shop! But he could get some more within 48 hrs. I'm going to ask him to show me what they look like on the internet. That will settle it. If is the genuine article I'll have one at that price. If it's a NEX7 then I won't bother.

At that price you can expect him to be out of business within 24 hrs. He would be selling at a very large loss.

The NEX 7 is properly titled the 'Alpha NEX 7'. Perhaps that is the source of confusion?

18-55 is a standard kit with the NEX 7, so it's almost certainly that.
 
You guys tested your cameras for light leak? Seems quite a big issue.

Nope, only 0.25 stop. I find the Sony is noisy at high ISO compared to my Canon EOS 6D. Still better than a cropper though!

Ulfric M Douglas - the vignetting is less noticeable at widest apertures, but it's certainly there (I posted some test "landscape" shots earlier in the thread. You can crop the images to around 35-37mm focal length and remove any remaining vignetting in post. However, in the dark, it's not as obvious :) Focusing speed is pretty good actually. Note - you need to remove the back plate of the lens to expand the field of view (easy).
