The f4 24-105 on my 5D2 worked fine for me. I'll be quite happy to pair the A7 with a compact, high-quality f4 zoom + a longer large-aperture prime.
 
I liked the 24-105, just not F4. OSS is nice though and will be great with that lens, should be good for video also.

Whens your A7 arriving?

The Zeiss Alpha 24-70/2.8 is 995g vs the E 27/70 at 430g. The lighter f4 lens will suit me fine.
 
Well I just took delivery of my Nikon G - E Metabones adapter. Build is leagues away from the ebay rubbish, but function is pretty much the same, still feels rough mounting both lens and camera and the aperture ring isn't particularly accurately marked, though is very well damped. Is it worth the price tag? Well from the moment you open the box it oozes quality, but I dunno I think if it were 3/4 the price I'd say worth every penny.

It weighs a ton and looks very serious with my Tokina 11-16mm mounted, and even better news, my 85mm f1.4 works fine on it so I won't have to sell! Yipee!
 
I've seen a couple of them and they did look good, seem difficult to get hold of though!
 
There were 3 when I last looked, all in mounts I did not need! Guess they've started to take off now.
 
Got my spare battery today, the Ex-Pro one, works just like the Sony one, charges in camera.

My expensive Made in Germany MD adapter has been shipped so I hope to be able to use my 24mm without the black ring effect.

Also bought a new mem card today so my spending on my new kit should I hope be over.

OM Adapter.
Zuiko 28mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8, 135mm f3.5.

I can't decide if I'll go for the AF primes or not... they're FBW no marking jobbies :( I'll probably give the manual kit a good go and think about the AF's if my eyesight goes :D

Might also think about a longer macro.

I now have to decide why/if I'm keeping my 5D and three remaining lenses... Sigma 50mm f1.4, Canon 20-35 and 70-300mm. The Canon lenses are ho hum but the Sigma is a bit special and together with a 5D makes a very nice setup. But do I need all these cameras...
 
I *may* have just bought a Contax/Zeiss Distagon 28mm f/2.8 to go with the 50mm 1.7 and 85 2.8 I already have.

That it's on my A7 right now could be just a rumour… :)

It's an Japanese MM. Found it in a local camera shop I didn't know existed. :cool:

I'm enjoying the 6400 ISO shots at 2.8 I took in the dark on the way home already. Can't wait to get it in some good light.

Today I have mostly.....been larking about with my Tokina 11-16. Ultrawide, focus guesstimated selfie? Why not, it's not like I have much shame!




To think I once called this lens low resolution! I take it all back!
 
Alan how does the tokina fare at 16mm as it's supposed to cover the full frame at that focal length.

Depends if you leave the hood on. At 16mm the very corners are slightly darkened without, with it on the edges all round are darkened a little. You won't notice unless you shoot a plain white wall. At 11mm with the hood on it looks like this:



You can go down to 14mm with a little black edging or all the way to 11 if you wanted a circular image. (without hood)

I've been using it on my F100 for ever.

Thanks Alan, I have that lens on my a77 and think its ace and was just wondering how it would fare as an ultra wide at 16mm good sharpness especially them pesky corners?

Err, look above, it's pretty bloody sharp! But since for some reason everyone's obsessed with the few pixels in the corner....

There's probably a little bit of motion blur in there too, since the shutter speeds were 1/10 and 0.6 and I have no remote release yet.

and the 35-70mm f/4 has turned out to be a great performer.

I never used it much on my 5D as I was always running into exposure problems, probably due to the chipped OM to EOS adapter I was using.

It's certainly better than any of the FDn 35-70s (f/3.5-4.5 Macro and f/4) and I reckon it's better than the FD 35-105 f/3.5 at the wide end.

I have a couple of 135mm's and the only problem I have with them is getting a high enough shutter speed to enable me to get a steady shot. Of course if I can avoid pixel peeping I don't need quite as high a shutter speed.
 
Some very nice pics appearing on this thread. I am enjoying my little M-mount lenses a lot. The Summarit 50 2.5 is lovely as is the Konica Hexanon 90 2.8. I am looking at an Olympus 21 3.5 tomorrow which may replace my Voigtlander 21 f4.

2nd best 21mm in the world ever so they say... Would love one but finding reasonably priced ones is hard.

Had great fun with my camera today, a good sloshing about in the lake at Llanberis, a bit of a motor mishap en route home giving the Nikon 85mm a headache which it seems to have recovered from, lots of waving around at pre christmas dinner this afternoon. That Metabones adapter is proving to be worth it's weight in gold and that Nikkor 85mm lens is proving a big hit.

A7 arrived, unpacked and charging. I'm trying to track down a suitable cat for the traditional first photo.
 
I set myself a little challenge as I was playing a gig in Surbiton last night - to see how far I could get with my MF lenses on the A7 while photographing the other bands on the bill.

I had to bump up the ISO as it was very dark (around EV1) but it seemed to work out OK. :)

The first one is with the CZ 28mm 2.8, the other two are either an FD 50mm f/1.4 or possibly an FD 85mm f/1.8 (I was switching lenses a lot and wasn't keeping track very well)
