The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Did you get a confirmation date for the 35 mate? I'm over the moon with the 50!

Sigma gets the delivery from Japan early next week apparently. So late next week

Yeah I'm very happy too pal, the 85 and 50 are amazing

Hmmm quite tempted, just picked up another Samyang 35mm f2.8 to let me wait for an f1.4 once all the options are available and asessed...

Correct which means the MacBook Pro is quicker in the real-world ;)
Depends on PC and mpb you are comparing tbh

I honestly wouldn't buy the latest mpb. I have the 2017 model and you'll end up spending £200-300 easily on adapters. Cost is one thing but then you have to carry all the adapter to be able to do anything in the real-world. So playing adapter Lego on the move is rubbish and annoying. Not to mention my desk is now clutter to with wires and adapters.

I have been after a new MacBook Pro for the last 2 years now but I think I may just go down the iPad Pro route and keep my mid-2010 MacBook Pro for additional activities. :D

Wrong.

Both my laptop and desktop are actually more optimised and less buggy then a MacBook Pro I have. 2015 version I have

I am not wrong having worked in this area at one point. OSX is designed to run on very limited set of hardware hence can be better optimised for a specific hardware requirement much like games consoles (which is why consoles don't get refreshes very often they are super optimised) unlike windows where it's designed to run on anything and everything!

bugs have nothing to do with it, you won't find a non-buggy software

Anybody in here using flash with their A7iii?
Just asking as I seem to have a bit of trouble with mine, it fails to fire the flash at times. I have tried with a Godox on camera and also with an AD600, triggered by the XPro-S.

True I guess but you won't notice the difference.

Godox AD200s and xpros working 100%.

I am using Nissin Air 1 and a couple of Nissin i60A flash guns packed with Panasonic Enloop batteries.

Why do you *need* a MBP? Surely a cheaper Windows laptop would do also?

I have wedding album designed in a program and also tied to the ecosystem.

I guess I dont need to but it would be more seamless and painless to take the £300 hit and stick with it.

How do you have your camera set up, please
Do you have e-curtain on or off?

Just trying to work out what is causing the problem.

When using flash you should really have EFCS turn off, mine also work with HSS and I have yet to find any issues.
If you are using higher shutter speeds 1/250sec you will need to use HSS.

A while ago I got banned from Luminous Landscape for calling a raging fan boy a fan boy :D

He's still at it and in a recent thread someone else has called him a fan boy without apparently being banned... but maybe I was a little more direct... Fan boy posted a picture meant to demonstrate the superiority of his Nikon over those pesky CSC's and he's clearly missed focus on the subjects eye. Such is life. Oh, and Nikon will shortly release a top end CSC and will be vying with Leica for top spot. Could happen. Watch this space etc.

And before I get accused of spreading misinformation and being biased against Nikon I had one for probably over twenty years.

It'll be interesting to see what Nikon do, Canon too. I'm betting on yet more half hearted hobbling but I could be wrong.

He sounds like a real Jabroni lol

When Canon can be bothered, they normally knock it out of the park. Their top end stuff isn’t the problem. 1Dxmk2, 35L2 or 600EX-RT etc are all amazing. It’s their tier below that which gets critical spec cut which makes you question their logic. Like the silly 4K codec in 5D4.

£200-300 on adapters??????? I bought 3 sets of these (6 in total) for under £20 and that's all I need. One permanently attached to my printer, one permanently attached to each of my external drives, one permanently attached to my XQD card reader, one permanently attached to my SD card reader and one spare ;)

My biggest gripe with the new MBP is that the trackpad is too big and every once in a while I end up 'clicking' the mouse with the palm of my hand. Granted this is very very rare, but just once is once too often, there's no need for it to be that big ;)

Has anyone bought the Meike Pro-battery grip for the A9/A7riii?

I haven't, but was looking at them last night. It looks like the initial version had a dodgy joystick but there is a new version out now. Not many reviews for that one though.

There is also a grip from Neewer on Amazon at £80 but not much info on it.
