The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I’m sure I’d just use single point AF-C like I always do, tracking doesn’t always stay on the part of the subject you want for sports.

AF modes are very similar to the Nikon ones (with the addition of eye and face detect) just called different names. Like Nikon you can change how ‘sticky’ the AF point is.

Yeah makes sense! I will stick to single point and I image there is a quick way (or assign button to) eye af quickly.

I'm pretty sure you can already use the screen as a touch pad to focus while looking at the view finder.

You could on the a6500

So you can !!!!

It's not perfect, doesn't double tap to centre and don't appear to work on portrait mode but it does work !

Amazing

There is a setting to make it work in portrait. You can change how much of the screen in used and if it should move absolute or relative.

So I’m going to watch the guide but what focus points/mode do people use for action/sports?

Obviously CAF and I will use manual but single point or is there a better option than single point?

Is there a mode that once focused on a subject it will track it in the frame?

I know this is going to take some getting used to but at least I have test subjects ready
Watch the video at 30.00 that is one tracking option.

I screen shot that when he got the A7iii and then i read his posts today,i was shocked, well not really :D

Yeah, quite a u-turn, but guess that’s what sometimes happens.
It appears he’s gone, comes here, pillages us for information then goes lol :D ;)

Really? Told me he was keeping the Sony.

I think he mentioned it earlier in this thread that he was keeping the Sony.
If he is in the D850 thread, good luck to them as I’m sure they’ll be bombarded with plenty of questions and PM’s lol.
To be fair the D850 is a great DSLR. :)

I’m guessing by that I’m not the only one he PM’s!

I have started to see a few Sony’s (well an A9 and A7R) at equestrian events. Trouble is a lot of these companies have so much invested in Nikon or Canon it’s an expensive swap over.

Well I though I have a nose as my ears was burning. Nice to know to be s*** on. That’s it then. Knew a long break needed.
