The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

whats blackout got to do with being silent?

apparently xh1 has silent mechanical shutter.
O no I jus pointed out what the chip does and part of that if you want to jus keep on the subject is that it has usable shots in silent mode on almost all conditions you can shoot In.

Conditions meaning outdoor. Indoor. Slow or fast shutter.led or fluorescent light setup etc etc

So my A9 is faulty. Locked up/froze on 3 occasions. Also previous to that before we went out it locked in manual focus mode and needed reset/remounted the lens

Maybe this is a blessing lol

Send it back get a A7iii lol

Everything makes me want the A7III, it's annoying

A small part of me is considering keeping the A7ii and building my kit around Sony and then upgrading to the A7III when/if I make money from photography. Not sure if it makes logical sense though at the moment.

TBH you’ll always get better results with an average body and great glass than with a great body and average glass. There’s just more hype around new cameras

Maybe it's your lens

I have an A7r2 and used the 35 and 85 on it without any issue.

I'd doubt lenses that works fine on the A7R2 would be the cause of the A9 freezing and locking up/rebooting 3 times

When it's under a month old and that cost I don't think I'm gonna take the chance lol

Stick with the mk2 and build your lens line up first

Either way. Imo mirrorless is killing dslr in both crop and ff. And micro 4/3...

I have to say I reckon Fuji have got the right idea with the X-H1, realising that not everyone who's buying mirror less wants a small body thats compromised when handling larger lenses...
I'd love to see a similarly larger bodied Sony, I really struggle with the A7rii/iii without either the GP-X1EM or an L-Grip.

+1 was quite tempted by the XH1 but then started looking at some 100% sized shots, same issue with lack of detail / muddy looking detail.

Yet they still won't move to Bayer. They love to squeeze every drop out of a sensor. Just use the bloody 24mp Sony sensor as is and tweak the processing and colour. X trans is showing its BS for landscape.

at 1.2 you're keeper rate won't be overly high.
re mf when the metabones gave up in low light i switched to focus peaking. thought i was nailing every shot as had the "terminator" eyes. turns out focus peaking isn't that great at 1.2 either.

I find it accurate enough at wide apertures but I suppose if you pixel peep a 40mp picture you may not be 100% happy 100% of the time. I think it's at smaller apertures when everything peaks it's more difficult but there's always zone focusing but good luck zone focusing at f1.x :D Whenever Mrs Woof Woof wants to take a picture I just set the camera up and give it to her, seems to work ok.

Wouldn't normally post stuff like this but for people stuff I just use peaking or zone, Mrs Woof Woof at f2.5 with the V 35mm... I don't think she wants to go out again :D

Nothing wrong with Fuji sensors if you like "painterly" landscapes. Lovely cameras to use though.

I'm probably being cruel... but do all Fuji owners live on another planet? I think they must do going by the unearthly colours in their photos.

:D
