My most used Gig lens, by far, is the 28-70 F2. It is a brilliant lens and if you are in a small venue light will nearly always be poor. A 35mm F1.4 would be good too and you can pair that with your 70-200. What are you shooting as my advice would be different for a solo artist compared to a band. If you are shooting from teh side then I would have your 70-200 and rent a fast prime either a 35 or 50mm. Your 70-200 will be decent at the back for full stage images if you hold the camera above your head

I'd probably want your f2.8 70-200, plus a 35mm f1.4 or similar. Actually I'd like 2 bodies, one with an 85 f1.4 and one with a 35 f1.4.

When I shoot gigs I shoot 3 cameras. Two A9 iiis with 28-70 and 50-150 F2s and then an A1 with either a 14 or 20mm prime. At my usual venue the A1 sits under the stage but larger venues I carry all three as it is only 3 songs so not too much effort

I just had a wee nosy at Stage 2 and it looks like it has a centre aisle assuming it is seated. That will make your job much easier. The light looks OK too so I would definitely be taking your 70-200.
 
I must admit I forgot about the 28-70mm f2, that would be a good lens to use. Not cheap though.

I sold some lenses and got a touch over £500 but I doubt any new lens will be in that price range and I have too much kit already :D

I'm contemplating after the Wales trip we've just been on :ROFLMAO: But nothing super urgent. Might hang on until my birthday next year.

I've just discovered Lightroom doesn't have the correct camera profiles for the RX1R II which I find odd. I don't usually use Sony profiles but I do like the B&W however it's missing for the RX1R II :thinking:

Man-up :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: , I dragged a Fuji GX680 around Dinorwig (including all the higher levels) - Camera is 4kg, 3 lenses and extra film back another 5kg, then tripod, plus all the usual day out stuff.

Nearly killed me mind you.........................:eek:

Only took 18 images, got 16 keepers though :)

The rumor site predicts the camera wont be a leap forward and will just be an evolution and what will therefore probably follow are complaints and gnashing of teeth at the lack of a real move forward and of course everyone will complain about the higher price. Seeing what screen it has could be interesting. If it has the articulated and tilting screen that could mean it's the way forward. We'll see.

I'll read about it and watch reviews but I won't be buying. I'll be just as interested in the lens unless it's a 28 or 35mm f2.x in the style of and of the quality of the mini G's and then I'll be interested but I think the chances of it being one of these things is near zero.

For 3k plus, I won’t be changing my a7iv. I already have camera’s that do 24.5, 33, 40 and 61mp. The a7v won’t bring me anything that will make me won’t to change, personally. To others it may.
 
Some people do like the latest greatest thing and this new camera might move things forward in some areas and some people will like that and some may even get a benefit. I think there are people who push the boundaries of what's possible and every even incremental inch forward might just help a small percentage of people.

Not me, obviously :D but having said the better eye detect on later cameras is very nice compared to my old A7 as it locks on when the face/eye is much smaller in the frame.

A camera with global sensor readout and/or a 16 stop might have been interesting, but not at 3K. The A7IV is down to £1400 grey, and starting to look interesting for the better AF, flippy screen and slightly denser sensor.

Really hoping for something that is competitive with the Nikon Z8. £2200 grey is a great price and Sony has nothing that can compete in that price range.

I very much doubt it will be able to compete with the Z8. The Z8 has a really fast sensor readout meaning a usable electronic shutter for moving subjects, and it also has blackout free shooting. It can also shoot at 20fps 14 bit raw. I very much doubt the A7V will have any of these, it wouldn't surprise me if frame rate stays the same.

They do, but a stacked sensor is needed for the fast readout speeds, to date only the A1 line and A9 line have had stacked sensors. It's about time they filtered down to the other lines but if and when is anyone's guess.

It is lovely. We didn't go up to the tower today but have done in the past. In the morning we were at Burford.

The man cave shop in Broadway is cool, has some really great stuff in there.

@snerkler - I was meant to actually quote earlier rather than just look & like, but I was at the gym :) Love these Cotswold images :) Some places around there still on my not visited list! :)

And talking about not visited..... We've now got Snowdonia ticked off the list & we want to go back already. Actually, we wanted to go back before we'd even made it home :ROFLMAO: We done 8 days in Snowdonia (and Anglesey area), couple of nights on the west coast & a long weekend in Tenby.

Just imported & having a quick flick through the images..... WOW! :cool: And I'm only up to the second day!!

Thanks very much, it really is a lovely part of the world.

Snowdonia is stunning, probably in the top 3 places we’ve been in the UK. I’d love to go and do some ‘proper’ photography there. Whilst I do take a lot of photos when we’re away they’re only what I’d call ‘grab shots’ when we’re out and about. I’d love to go out when the light’s good and survey the areas to find the best locations.

Looking forwards to seeing your photos, I’m expecting some stunners (y)
