The Affinity Photo Workbook is here… and I just got it!

Has anyone seen any more details on this other than what's on the website? I really respect them for doing the tons of videos but I'm old fashioned and think I'd find a book better as I try and learn how best to use the software. It's a little pricey though even with the 25% off. Wonder why they didn't do a beginners (me) and advanced version.

Take the videos as the beginners version, I did
when I was a beginner with Affinity Photo.

Pricey… Really?

Thanks both. Re the 'pricey' comment I guess I was looking at it in the context of how much I paid for the application but I take your point. For a 400 page hardback it's fairly priced.

I get your point Sniffer,i have held back at moment ,if it had been say £15 i would have ordered by now but i may still get it either before end of this week offer or when they reduce it again which im sure they will at some point

I think I will wait until the price comes down, as it surely will. Forget the hardback version and eventually, if there are enough Affinity Photo users to make it worthwhile, a softback version will probably follow. So far, with the help of the videos and the Affinity forums, I have been able to manage my transfer from Photoshop quite successfully.

I'm thinking of post Xmas when the kids are wired on sugar and the in laws have hogged the TV. Glass of wine and find somewhere quiet. Perhaps it's worth the price of early adoption after all!

Certainly should be some great learning in a nice format,if you intend to use AP indefinately i wouldnt want to discourage your purchase.

I paid € 37.48, ordered through Affinity, and got it
this morning — delivered from Amazon. :)

Hmm its only £31 here in uk inc del,is it cus your there?
Exchange rate… must be!
Whats your im
Pression Kodi of the book?
This is the kind of English I am supposed to use and write! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::wacky:

Impressions? It's heavy… joking aside, I will get into it when
I'm done with the studio moving… in January 2018.

is there much on the RAW conversion side of things or is it mainly photoshop type pixel manipulation tecniques?

I do not recommend AP for that purpose as it can work
only one file at the time and won't generate xmp sidecar
files but rather save in an other format of your choice. :(

This will mean that any/all tweaks must be part of a "star-
ting all over again" procedure every time. Capture One is,
in my book and in every regard, the ultimate converter. :)

That's the way I use it, as pixel editor, the best choice for
anyone who, like me, wants to be Adobe free.

So you use it for pixel editing after youve done the raw conversion in C1 ,what format do you import into AP from C1?

Once the post-processing completed, I'll export the
result in a 300 px full size JPG that will be opened in
AP for editing if necessary.

I rarely do image manipulations / compositions in my
operational workflow but, when I do, AP is very well
in position to support my ambitions.
