The 52 Weeks of Daysleeping Pt 2 - WEEK 52!!! (Texture)

Number 1 all the way...I love your dark moody shoots...

Again another stunning photo from you...:clap::clap:

Brilliant...

Very well done on self. a great take

Organised, bang on theme

Fi, what a fantastic SP. Very sophisticated, well lit and well processed.:clap::clap:

Organised - #1 for me, although I love the legs of #2. Another classy, well processed shot

Thankyou so much for all your comments - much appreciated :)

I know I am horribly behind again and all I can say is I'm sorry and I will really try to get myself sorted out next week. I have had a horrible last week and am suffering a bit of a crisis of confidence generally. I won't bore you with the details but it's fair to say I am feeling a bit down and need to pick myself up again. I will be back on a more positive note soon and will be playing catch up with all your threads AGAIN. I'm sorry.

No need to apologise Fi, it's silly busy at the moment, and knocks at busy times can be extra tough. I hope you're feeling back on form again soon

Fi, life does that to us sometimes but never doubt your photography. From what I've seen on here you have no reason to. It's frustrating when the work/social balance gets screwed up and easy to think it's your fault of your problem or you're not capable enough.

Don't add to it by worrying about us - by the sounds of it most of us will still be here next year

And I know people understand, I've apologised a couple of times myself when life has got in the way of this. Just remember, you're the most important person in your life at the moment and take care of yourself  and don't worry about us.

Self - very well done, LOVE it, great portrait, skin, lighting, everything. Spot on.

Organised - first shot for me, good shot!

And no need to apologise for behind. Lord knows I've ignored a week's task

Thank you all for being lovely

Things are looking a bit more positive this week. I have finally crowbarred a shot in to meet the "Low Down" theme - I've hidden it on page 7 - feel free not to comment :p :D

Am now working on Confusion, Music & Pain. Will hopefully be up to date tomorrow and then I can look at all your threads. I will try to catch up on the comments but please don't be offended if I don't manage it with everyones thread, it's turned into a bit of a mamouth task!

Week 48: Confusion

I am just trying to get up to date and have to admit that this (and the next one) aren't my best efforts! I have lacked inspiration for "Confusion" for a few weeks now and it's time to admit that a fantastic idea isn't going to come to me...

One thing I am quite pleased with is that this was taken using natural light which I really struggle with. It's probably one of my better effort with natural light so I'm going to look at that as a positive!

Week 49: Music

Well I did at least have an idea for this one...

and now I am up to date (if I can get pain in by the end of today) - woot! :)

No need to apologise - they are both very good!

I like the bedlam cubes for 'confusion' - the colours, lighting and layout are are excellent.

And you have captured the drumming very well - I can hear that beat.

Well done! :clap::clap:

Thanks Tracer & Shorty - I'm a bit annoyed with myself that I got so behind and I havn't been able to give these last few shots much time... but I only have myself to blame I suppose!

So... onto week 50 - Pain: I should have shares in this stuff...

Taken with the Raynox 250 strapped to the front of my 55-200, lighting is the usual table lamp. Not very inspired - let's hope I do a bit better next week.

Up to date though and that is something to be happy about :)

  :clap:well done on catching up. Especially since it's Christmas week.

I really think that you're selling these short.

Confusion : Great colours and composition. Reminds me of the Rubik's Cube shot that I tried early on in this. . . except that you've done better. Good exposure and composition.

Music : :clap::clap::clap:
Love the motion blur and great colours again!
I like the way that your? jeans and top are picking up the blue on the drum.

Pain : Nice close-up, good DOF and the simple contrast of gold and black is spot-on.
It might not be the most inspired, but it works well

What a catchup!

Confusion: I like it. As you've said you've managed a mini conquer of natural light, so well done on that! And isn't that what the 52 are all about eh! Learning and mastering new things

Music: Really like how you captured the moving hands, nicely done!

Pain: I'm no stranger to the tiger balm myself, but by the sounds of it you spend a lot more time with it than me . And, it's bang on theme

Thankyou both for the kind comments... but I'm just not happy with my shot for pain. So I have had a bit of a reshoot. Not sure these really convey what I was aiming for but I am going to post them anyway...

I'm a bit speechless by these to be honest. A cracking set of photos you captured there. First 2 are a little stronger than the 3rd, just because of the sheer emotion you managed to portray. Absolutely love these, they're so believable.

I don't quite know what else to say. Extremely powerful . Hope you aren't really feeling like that  ....

Little bit... so I had me a photographic therapy session and it's done wonders for my mood ;)

Thankyou for the lovely comments

Major catch up on your thread - I'm sorry I've neglaected you. :'(

Low Down: Better late than never - and actually a good take on the theme. Cats' agility always amazes me and you've caught the action beautifully.

Confusion: It would confuse me, for sure. The lighting works really well and the simple colour palette gives impact to a good composition. Definitely  from me. :)

Music: Yep, I could dance to that beat. :D Bang (pun intentional!) on theme. :)

Pain: The Tiger Balm is totally eclipsed by the SPs. Wow - they're so powerful. I really hope you were acting, otherwise I'll have to get the hug smilie working overtime. I love the dof and the mono treatment is exactly right, too. Huge WELL DONE :clap::clap:

Jean

Aw, so sorry to hear that. Good to hear the "photographic therapy session" picked you back up :). You keep happy now you hear! We're all rooting for you here :)

Just to add, I for one can't stop looking at the 3 photos you've produced from this. I honestly find them breath taking.

Pain - the Tiger Balm shot is good of its kind but the SPs are amazing1 :clap::clap:

Glad you are feeling better after it!

Confusion works well... Music is excellent... Pain... the tiger balm worked. The SP's are amazingly strong and powerful.. Well done on those  glad you're feeling better to...

Music...excellent shot, great movement...

Confusion...nicely done and very colourful...

Pain...Very powerfull photography...you have capture a real and moving set of shots, the B&W treatment just adds to the despair...:(

I really hope you are much better now and looking forward to the Christmas holidays...

Take Care...

Hi Fi

Confusion fits the bill, Music is much better than my poor attempt at the same shot and Pain, the Tiger Balm is a good shot but completely blown out of the water by your SPs:clap::clap::clap::clap:

They are amaaaazing :clap::clap::clap:

I've nothing to add to whats been said before me....Excellent
Jon

Thankyou for all the lovely comments - and the well wishes.

Sorry for being a bit depressing and weird - I am back on form again and looking forward to a lovely christmas with my OH. I really hope you all have a fantastic christmas too!

Week 51 - Health

Who needs to go to the gym to get healthy when their lovely OH got them a Wii Fit Plus for christmas :D

Had terrible trouble with trying to get the tv screen right and on reflection that might have been easier if I hadn't picked a snow themed game to play :bonk:

Nearly there now... and I'm determined to get the last one in on time

Ah apologies for neglecting your thread Fi....slipped through the slats....so here goes:

Confusion - love the way you've lit it albeit natural light :) and set it against the black bg, might have been inclined to trim some space from around the subject and close in a bit but it looks like its a real theme fitter :)

Music - Slight blue cast on my screen but the capture nonetheless works - very nice :)

Pain - as much as I love the first one, the colours and detail especially the 3rd one of your self portrait set says PAIN to me really loudly...great three shots but that last one is sooo full of emotion!

Health - I'm late too :) Nearly there!..Hehe nice one..not sure if that blue screen should be white but it doesn't detract from a great idea and great viewpoint :) Is this the new 'gym' :D

I like the arrangement and the way you have captured the motion.

I've never heard of Wii Fit - I'm way behind the times :(

I can't believe that I missed your second take on pain :bang:

Those are absolutely amazing!!!! I just can't stop looking at them.
No.2 has the most impact for me, but all 3 SPs are simply brilliant . . . but I'm glad to hear that you're back on form and not feeling like that any more.

Health :
Good to see you enjoying your Christmas Pressie. . . funnily enough, guess what I was doing this afternoon - and it didn't even occur to me to use it as a shot for health.
For such a bright screen I think you've done really well with the TV, but it's the motion of your legs on he Wii board that makes the shot. Well Done.

Clever very clever...:clap::clap::clap:

would not of thought of that in a hundred years...

Great action shot, love the movement...

Well done...

I agree, very clever. the motion in the legs makes it. Just a shame the TV doesn't show the Wii very well. Otherwise a corker!:clap:

Excellent DS. The Wii Fit Plus hasn't been opened here yet. Shooting the TV is a right Pain, but you've done it well, and as has been said, the movement in the legs really helps make it, as does framing the TV with the legs.

Drum role please....

WEEK 52!!!

Now I thought texture was going to be easy - you'd have thought I would have learnt by now :bonk:

I spent ages trying to take interesting shots of all sorts of things and ended up with this - probably not my finest 52 shot but it is at least on time :D

I am actually very proud of all of us that made it to the end of this project - and would also like to say a HUGE thankyou to anyone and everyone who has taken the time to post C&C throughout the year. I don't think I would have kept up with it without the encouragment. I have decided to bow out of the 2010 52 but I will be carrying out my own personal project so I'll still be loitering around this area of the forum a fair bit. Happy New Year to you all - looking forward to seeing everyones projects for 2010.

Thankyou and good night

A final catch up of the year from me. :)

Health: tv screen are a total 'mare to capture, but this works ok because the action is in the foreground. You've caught the action really well. How many calories a minute does the Wii burn? It looks like lots. :)

Texture: This texture is lovely. You've sold yourself short. The loop looks 3-D - very effective - and the colours are vibrant but natural. A very worth end, Fi.

A huge

CONGRATULATIONS

on getting to the end (and on time!):clap::clap:

You've shared some truly amazing shots in your 52, and I hope you'll look back on it with pride. Good luck with your project in 2010 - I hope you'll share it with us. :)

Jean
