The 2014 Season F1 Thread

Yeah that's my problem... I pay £26 a month (I think??) to have Sky Sports through Virgin JUST to watch the F1 channel. It is alot of money but for me it is worth it as the Sky coverage is absolutely amazing compared to the dated service from the BBC. I also like to watch it live...

and Natalie Pinkham is worth one... or maybe two.

The other SS channels never get watched and I cancel it once the last race has finished.

If I was really bothered, I would nip down the road to a club where they show the Sky GPs Hopefully I'll sleep better now (see "at last" thread!) so won't be so cream crackered in the evenings.

Slight ripoff by Virgin there, the F1 channel is free on Sky if you have the normal Entertainment package.

I've got Sky Sky and though I had the entertainment package. When I try to watch the F1 channel it tells me to upgrade to Sports.

free if you have HD on sky and free if you have the sports package, but other than that I don't think it is.

At one stage, ISTR that Sky F1 came free with HD.

Actually you have to subscribe to Sky Sports to get the F1 channel.
That's a new one then.. Should be/was that you just had a Sky+ HD box, Sky entertainment pack and Sky HD to get F1..

People who signed up for the old "HD Pack" got F1 HD thrown in, and they (myself included) get to keep it.

New customers can only watch F1 if they sign up for Sky Sports. They've been doing this for at least the last few months.

F1 fans can experience the sport like never before on our dedicated F1 channel with unprecedented coverage and every race live and uninterrupted, available to customers who take the Sports Pack.

To have it in HD you need Entertainment Extra+, The HD pack AND Sky Sports as I said above.

Lucky devil! I remember buying races on the F1 PPV service offered on Sky.

So to confirm. If anyone wants to contract Sky Sport F1, they HAVE TO take the Sports Pack despite what the mod says.

No, what I said is entirely correct. Thousands have the "old" Sky HD package that still includes the F1 channel. You DO NOT need to HAVE the sports pack to view the F1 channel on Sky.

You are hilarious. Look at Nod's post. He says "When I try to watch the F1 channel it tells me to upgrade to Sports.". I reply saying that he need to subscribe to Sky Sports to get it, WHICH HE'D HAVE TO, and you still argue the point. So looking forward to explaining to Nod just how he can get Sky Sports F1 without subscribing to Sky Sports.
Go for it.

Pretty sure that's the case NOW.

For a few years, after a technical up-cock by Sky, we were getting pretty much the full range of channels from Sky including sports and movies although I was only paying for a much lesser package (whatever they call the one with NG and Discovery). A relatively recent update removed the extras though. :( Being an honest gent, I phoned them as soon as I realised we were getting the extras and the chap on the end of the line basically said "Computer says you're not getting them so you won't be charged for them." and so we carried on watching the occasional sports event (very occasional!) and a few films (again, very few). Certainly didn't get enough from them to warrant the extra cost they should have been so wasn't too bothered by them vanishing.
Apart from last weekend's race, the action off track has been at least as interesting as the races themselves which have been high speed advertising parades for several years now.

I can assure you I don't.

I have the entertainment pack and HD, no + or Sports, and my F1 channel works (or I had serious hallucinations about F1 yesterday ;)).

Twist it whatever way you like, I have far better things to do in life than argue with the likes of you :)

We had something similar when we used to get cable. Started with a really great package for a good price from Nynex, I think, and they got sold to whoever and we got the same pack and then sold to someone else and we still got the same stuff (all the time for the same price) by the time we came to move it was NTL running and we still had the same stuff, a right odd mix that wasn't any set package at some crazy low price. Think they even commented once that we had a "really odd deal, but the computer accepts it"....proves computers do have their upsides on occasion.

As Tom says, it must be a fairly new development, I"m not sure what you mean by "CONTRACT Sky Sport F1", but I can assure you I did not have to take the Sports Pack to get it.

Just checked again, pressed 4 - 0 - 6 on the remote, yes, there is Sky F1 working as it should. Bahrain GP replay just finishing.

Bringing things back on topic, sort of, has anyone been playing along with this http://gppredictor.com/ - lets you predict the results from the races and scores your accuracy, can play against friends etc....sort of like fantasy F1 but a little less involved (and free).

Gotta love computer cock ups, especially when they're in your favour!

We are replying to Nod who wants to know why he gets an "upgrade to Sky Sports" message when he switches to Sky Sports F1. Being helpful I explained that to get it he'd have to subscribe (or contract or whatever alternative word you prefer) to Sky Sports. The mod has argued this point. Despite it being very clear on Sky's website. Some people are obviously on an old legacy offering and they get it as part of their (non Sky Sports) package. So, if Nod or I wanted Sky Sports F1 WE WOULD HAVE TO SUBSCRIBE TO SKY SPORTS even though some people refuse to accept that is the case.

Good race though
Saw it on poormans tele even with a clipped race and ben Edwards (although the cars sounded louder and he sounded softer)it was still a brilliant race
