Great race, well deserved win for JB (the best driver in conditions like these), and the best man by far won the championship title. What a drive by Vettel, the lap after he got hacked off the track, he was 8 seconds faster than Hamilton at the front - that is what adrenalin does!

Yep Alonsos luck held and his skill to take advantage of it put him second BUT Sebs luck was with him today his car should, in all the pile ups ive seen, been damaged beyond repair, how that bull withstood that hammering is nowt short of a miricle
It was a smashing race / season and the best races were not helped by the artifical aides

Oh god here he goes again. It'll be tyres next...

So no penalties for causing the crash with Senna or overtaking Kamui under a yellow flag? Seems a little generous to me.

Tyre degredation played no part in this race It was just wet or dry and a choice of compounds The way it should be

I have always been of the opinion that stewards are selected for there ability to see (with far more data than we have )the rules are applied fairly rather than someone dragged in looking for a burger van near the stewards office
Whilst I decry the non publication of there decissions they do seem open to talk about them
I can find no comment by anyone in a informed position to who was to blame for the crash so it dosnt seem a contensious point just a racing incident
as for the yellow flags read on

red and yellow flags slippery track Move legal see link

http://www.crash.net/f1/news/186443/1/stewards_confirm_vettel_overtake_move_was_legal.html

You can;t really punish Vettel for the early move, its one of those things, he suffered enough. first lap racing incident as Seb wouldn;t know Senna was there.

How the car survived I've no idea, took such a hammering. Shows luck has been with Seb this season and not Lewis for example, one touch and he is out, Seb had two bangs and carried on

Saved the best race of the year for me until the end. was great to watch from start to finish

Roll on the driver changes and 2013 now

Got to mention FA's face at the end when he knew SV had done enough to clinch the WDC. Bulldog licking urine off a thistle comes to mind! I had to feel sorry for FM in 2008 when he was WDC for a few seconds then LH snatched the place he needed for it but I'm afraid I feel none for FA.

I doubt over this season anyone could have driven that ferrari as good as Alonso to end up 3 points adrift
Massa is now beleiving he can drive faster than Alonso and probably will next year but he will still be the No2 so it will be only for parts of a race where he can show it
And odd jim if you are reading, the tyres next year will give more mechanical grip by having a bigger footprint but yes youve guessed it wear out quicker Whoopie

If they could make them last 1 lap we could have 70 odd pit stops Yes that is stupid but no more than wear out fast tyres

I so wanted Alonso to win the championship this year, he deserved it more than anyone.

Well, it's been a hell of a season ... best I can remember for a long time ... and I think the better driver won the championship. More important than that though is that I got to call Virgin Media this morning and cancel my subscription to Sky Sports - saving £32 per month ... until next season :D

Corrected that for you ;)

I've just got home from Sao Paulo, and have started to trawl through my photos.
To anyone who ever moans about the fencing at Silverstone. You should see Interlagos. If you are the wrong side of the fence it's a total nightmare with a camera.:( But fantastic viewing for the spectator.

But what a race. The best I have ever been to.

I think now, should anyone moan about fencing, yes its poor for pictures but look watch "Senna". Max, Bernie and Sid deserve all the credit they get for making F1 a safe (as it can be) place for the drivers to race around at the speeds they do

Ferrari had no intention of protesting they were trying to push the FIA into an investigation aided by the daily Fail then they wouldnt look bad to the fans
There seems to be a lot of armchair marshalls and stewards on the net
It seems quite simple that anything you see first is the overriding signal and the in car lights are aids
This seems to be the simplest explanation I have found

Ferrari are going to have publicly accept The FIA ruling on the pass or they will look very bad
Maybe Alonso can tweet about it
All looked like sour grapes to me

For the diehard fan and collector. Beware, the 2012 may be made using sour grapes...

One of the jokes in that Sniff Petrol page is their use of the term "traditional Ferrari red"! For some while, the "traditional" corsa rosso has been replaced by a much more orangey red, as specified by Marlboro. I have a feeling that next year's Lotus (in Coca Cola red) may be a lot closer to the corsa rosso than Ferrari's current cars are!

Nod it won't be in Coca Cola red. They are using the Burn brand as sponsor, whose primary colour is black.

Very true. I wonder when Ferrari will change from Marlboro red back to corsa rosso.

From Ferrari
What does Montezemolo mean, is he shooting the breeze or if he cant bend the rules to suit Ferrari he will leave

The 65-year-old took the time to criticise the current technical regulations which put a heavy reliance on aerodynamics, and the lack of testing
"There are a number of things that are not right in F1 and the moment has come to finally sort them out in the appropriate places," he added.

"It is not acceptable that F1 no longer transfers technology to our road cars. The aerodynamics is now becoming something which has nothing to do with the research. This cannot be a sport in which there is no longer testing on the track.

"We have run out of patience. We are car manufacturers, not sponsors. As Ecclestone said, 'it's a joke...'"

I do see his point. F1 has always been the peak of automotive development and innovation. Stuff created for the track eventually filtering down to the road cars. Maybe the way the sport is heading means that less stuff can be filtered down.

Ferrari vs Eccelstone could this be the big divorce in F1
Or is Bernie being shuffled out and Montezemolo is marking the new boys ground ????

I thought about posting these pics elsewhere higher up the forum. But I don't want (or need) criticism for them. They are merely "snaps". However they might be of some interest to those who view this thread, so I'll post them purely for interest.

I could perhaps start a thread stating that he was the greatest ever and inviting comments. But maybe that's not such a good idea.

The final resting place of Ayrton Senna. Morumbi Cemetery, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

A rather peaceful and understated resting place, not what I would have expected given his fame and adoration in Brazil and across the world, but good to see.

Thanks for sharing
