Oh dear I hope rain doesn't ruin it, I could do with OH home at some point! I could give birth at any moment!
I agree about JB, just not happening for him :-(
I also agree about Kimi, he certainly wants to win, but he could at least smile when he makes the podium - surely it's not a bad job to have :-)

DiResta is a Brit but I'm not a fan, can't put my finger on it but just not fussed if he wins or not

Di Resta has a lot of talent. In a better car I can see him doing a lot better. Hopefully a move to Ferrari is on the cards as Massa is getting dropped after this season.

As for today's race as always I'll be supporting Hamilton. Button will hopefully pick his way through. Can see Alonso or Webber up there too.

Should be interesting anyway, but I do feel for the spectators in this weather.

Would Mercedes Benz want their investment Di Resta to go to Ferrari?

I'm a big Grosjean fan. In GP2 a couple of years ago, he really showed he could overtake and now he looks the part in Formula 1 [unlike his runner-up in GP2 who couldn't race anybody and who pulped a Williams on Friday ;) ].

Looking forward to todays race :). First one I've watched in a while due to work.

I like Di Resta as it's always interesting to see where he finishes although I'm much more of a Button/Hamilton fan :).

I also went to silverstone a few years back and it was very wet. Sat at the bridge and saw a lot of the action with cars coming off in front of us. Best weekend ever :)

Di Resta is just waiting for Schumacher to b****r off and he'll be straight in there.....I reckon he'll do a very nice job in a Merc!! ;)

I gotta say I'm finally starting to warm to Alonso. He's done some great stuff this year in a not so great car, and he doesn't come across as badly as he did in the McLaren days.

Is anyone watching the Sky coverage? Want to know if you can hear the BBC chanting on there, but can't face turning over myself.

A good race, although not as thrilling as some. Some amazing driving by Mark Webber and a well-deserved win. Although I felt a bit bad for the McLaren boys especially Button who, as he said in a post-race interview, was not racing with the Red Bulls or Ferraris as he normally does. Shame about Di Resta going out too early.

Nah, couldn't hear it

Yes you could. There was also a few guys with a 'EJ's Fan Club' flag too.

Thats disturbing heh.
I will say I had it on fairly quiet due to a sleeping baern, so possibly it was hearable to anyone whose house isn't on silent running :D

Couldn't hear it myself with 5.1 surround...

I don't know if DiResta is that good, I dont think he would do a much better job than Schumacher?

Beat team mate Vettel in F3 to the championship.

Isn't this the same stuff as the Andy Murray thread but just a different Scot that is getting bashed? Di Resta has totally outperformed his team-mate and gained the bulk of FI points and has finished all bar 2 races he has started. He is a team player, never bad mouths anyone and always has time for fans and journalists.

What's not to like?

Exactly, and despite today still has 10 more points than his team mate and more points than Schumacher.

I like Di Resta, and agree with the poster above. Maldonado now he's another kettle of fish...

Di Resta is undoubtedly quick, think he'll do a great job in a top car. Problem is I can't see a seat developing in the Mclaren yet, Ferrari may be a possibility but he's tied to the Mercedes deal at the moment I think so that level Schummy's seat. Could be, but never know what happens the following season, will that car still be there or will they drop down again. Mind last season the Mercedes where awful so consistency is not always there with that team.

.... anyone noticed how the whole time Sam Michaels was at Williams, they were crap.... now he has left... they are improving [driver cock ups aside]...meanwhile at his new employers mclaren..... :whistling:

So I'm not the only one

Maldonado has had 4 major incidents so far this year. The first at Australia would have been totally forgotten about bar the others and really amounted to nothing. The same applies to today's...He simply lost it going into the corner on cold tyres and would more than likely have caught the spin but Perez was occupying the space he needed. there was nothing really malicious about it.

However I think that his punt into Hamilton was very poor driving and deserved a grid drop at the very least...coming from off the track and driving INTO the side of another car is going beyond aggressive and into stupidity.

The worst of them all was at Monaco...he swerved into another drivers car in an apparent attempt to take out his front wing. For that I think he should have been banned for a number of GP's. As The Dude himself would say "this aggression will not stand". He needs a timeout and to be told regardless of how much money he brings to the sport from his backers and despite winning a GP he need to reign it back a bit.

If Button keeps his current form up??? I would have thought of all the top seats Massa's coat is on the shoogliest peg (good drive today notwithstanding) and Ferrari have long since repaid any debt after he got Barrichello's spring in the heid so I think that is most likely...would be good to see him stuff it to Vettle again proving he is a far better driver than the kraut.

...

There was also Maldonado's chop on Hamilton in Spa last year.

Did anyone hear what perez said? ALL the drivers are saying mad mal has no respect for others
If perez was blowing air then it dosnt put him in a good light If he wasnt then mad mal is on borrowed time
Mad mals record is the reason for his visit to the stewards I reckon anyone else would just have got a tut for that move
Germany next Will Bernie show up there or not????

Christ I forgot about that...madness in the run up to Eau Rouge wasn't it? Having done some karting and rallying in my time I know that most guys will give any driver a couple of breaks with regards to "racing incidents" but once you're thought of as being dangerous it can take time and a lot of effort to shake off. I'd say Maldonado is right at that point now.

Sooooo..... don't bash the Scottish but the Germans are fair game....

...or was it someone simply saying they are not a DiResta fan, without any actual bashing of any sort? I cannot warm to Alonso, but that isn't me 'bashing' him, simply a statement of fact.

Wasn't that incident on a slow down lap though? Not that I condone it but it's great entertainment....

I hate reading things in the forum like "kraut" "nip" etc. It's like we've regressed to the dark ages. People defend it by saying it's done in jest, but to me it's xenophobic and insulting.

Have a great day everyone!

...and I hate "jock" but no one who uses that term seems to find that offensive do they?

Fair enough but if you are going to say that you don't like someone at least try and justify it otherwise it's the same as someone posting a pic for crit and purely getting a reply like "it's cr@p"....If anyone wants to say that they don't like any driver that's ok but give a reason.

I listed numerous reasons why Di Resta is a great driver and a nice guy.

For the "kraut" thing see my comments above...

I was reading today that Susie Stoddart will be testing for Williams later this year. As you know there's never been a successful female Formula 1 driver. Do you think there ever will be?

I assume that the kind of idiot that uses it doesn't find it offensive, so I agree with you.

Would that be the same kind of idiot that refers to overweight women as "Lardy"?! :p

My great uncle Andy was from Scotland, and he would always introduce himself to people using his nickname, which all the way up until his death at 82 years old, was "Jock".....how come it's offensive all of a sudden?! (that's a genuine question btw)

We even have a couple of TP members who have "Jock" as part of their username.....presumably by their own choice!!

I can see no reason why there shouldnt be
In fact I am amazed there isnt, the era of chauvernism has passed, hasnt it
Tactics and stratergy are the name of the game nowadays
There is just not that many in the frame out there at the moment
A good driver is a good driver irrespective of anything
A paid seat , publicity stunt or both is another thing altogether
I am sure Williams have picked Mrs Stoddart on merit as a development driver
