Aaaaah - thats more like it - back to the boredom in Bahrain.............

Oh no - wait a minute, bitching about the tyres now. Funny how we will always look for something to blame when we're being outperformed by others.

You wanted unpredictability in the tyres - get on with it prima-donnas!

Boring race! ? I beg to differ :-)

Not sure I would call it boring....Still not enjoying the Sky coverage personally, I don't know a massive amount about the sport but I keep spotting things they didn't mention until much later (Lewis' slow first stop) and both Brundle and Crofty kept getting the drivers mixed up and neither seemed to want to correct the other. Watching bits of the BBC highlights and they spot things much quicker and don't seem to get things wrong anywhere near as much. Can't help but feel the BBC has a better team helping the commentators, certainly makes more pleasurable viewing for me.

I watched the BBC coverage last race, had to go back to Sky again.
Despite sky stealing Brundle and Kravitz, there's still enough mistakes to make the BBC coverage look polished and professional whilst sky look a little amateur. Hopefully this will improve as they find their feet and Brundle will get to say more. Croft is making to many simple mistakes.

Boring race, nope. We had overtaking, some even at unusual places and it was interesting to see just how narrow a margin it is for these tyres to switch on and off, with all teams having different windows to get them working.

Looks like the ferraris are setting the car up for top speed to help them overtake/defend and the McLarens setup for overall lap time/balance. They couldn't get near some cars.

I managed to find a live stream of the F1 with BBC commentary, but it had adverts :( Would love Brundle to return to BBC and replace Edwards. If Edwards would even just stfu and let DC speak it would be good. Not enjoying his contributions at all. Promote DC to lead commentator and bring in Legard to keep him company.

Poor pit stops for McLaren, poor strategy by Lotus (Kimi should've been in straight after his near pass to get the jump on Vettel) and shocking driving from Rosberg - how did he avoid penalties?!

Rosberg was borderline for me with some of his dangerous high speed swerves IMO, think the stewards made a mistake.

Kimi love him or not, is a breath of fresh air, nice clean aggressive driving

Unbelieveable that he got away with it. Not once, but twice.
I would love to see Kimi get a win. It could happen the way the Lotus is shaping up.

Nice seeing the resurgence of Lotus. Not going so well for them in IndyCar, 2 teams have just walked away from their Lotus contracts.

Boring, horrible circuit IMO.

The race had a few highlights - (Renault) Lotus, Kimi - yes a breath of fresh air, Rosberg ( wonder if it had been the other way round with Hamilton what the result may have been?), and - about it for me. Mclaren - seriously dropping the ball with pit stops......again!

The tyres add a totally new dimension to the game though

Sky are still learning and at least they don't have Joke with his Ipad - although I still think BBC do it best.

Roll on Europe:thumbs:

No the BBC have the irish guy whose interests include talking all over team radio broadcasts, stuttering and mumbling at interviews, looking untidy and using a printed picture and marker pens to illustrate his points.

Hamilton was lucky not to get a penalty :naughty:

I don't like how the tyres aren't lasting - unpredictable is fine but they're too delicate and Schumi is right to have a go at them.

To be brutal I prefer it to Sky's all singing and dancing interactive wall *******s. Certainly helped me understand the stuff he was talking about more than a fancy 3D model of the red bull that Sky showed, but obviously couldn't touch or interact with (apart from sort of zooming in with the camera). Sadly I think the BBC had it nailed last season so nothing is ever going to seem as good. Sky have thrown money at it but it just isn't gelling yet.

No he's not bad - and he knows what he's talking about but Kravitz was really good. I know I've said it before but Edwards is **** poor. Incidentally, if I can find the stream for full, live BBC coverage (for races that aren't shown live on BBC) would I be okay to post a link here?

Are people still sticking with their predictions then?

Think i'll stick with mine...:)

Unfortunately you may be right if McLaren and Ferrari don't stop messing around.

i'll also admit that while not a great Raikkonen supporter, (actually not any sort:D), he may just cause a few embarrassed looks if the car holds together.

As usual I let my heart rule my head - Hamilton:thumbs:

Well that's button and webber out in Q2...

Maldanardo is flying.. I'd like to see Hamilton get pole and go on to win, kinda deserves it being very good in qualifying so far this year and having some bad luck..

Should make for an interesting race if Hamilton keeps his head!

Although I predict a kamikaze start in a temper wiping out in the first corner!

Do feel for him though! Am a big Hamilton fan and his lap was brilliant! Seems they always dish him out the worst possible penalty!

Damn right, that penalty is way too harsh. Even a 5 place grid drop would have been too harsh in my opinion. He had the advantage even allowing for the reduced fuel load (according to BBC anyway), so what's the problem? It's not like McLaren needed to put him out without enough fuel to get pole so I genuinely believe it was an accident.

But it puts him near Massa which should be interesting

I'm sure I've seen cars stop out on track like that before and not get a penalty...

And last on the grid is way to harsh anyway. Is stupidity a requirement they look for in their officials these days?
:-/

Seriously getting fed up with mclaren screwing up hamiltons chances this year. If I was him I'd be looking for a new drive..

Interesting thought............where's he going to go then? I expect he is getting pretty peed off too, but where would that elusive championship winning drive come from?

He should team mate Vettel, and Di Resta should take over from Massa.

Im sick to death of whats happening to hamilton. I found myself swearing at the tv watching his last pit stops last race.

Can't see Vettel agreeing to that - pretty sure Hamilton could blitz him in an equal car, and, of course, in a team that didn't keep 'peeing on his matches'.

I just swear about the team full stop. Ron needs to have serious words with those clowns :shake:

What were McLaren thinking of? What a bunch of stupid idiots there are. First they've had the pit stop debacles that cost them dearly, then today's farce.
Fully agree with the decision and I have no sympathy at all. Idiots.

Oh dear!

Could be a really interesting race tomorrow:thumbs:

Not only that, Hamilton won't have as many tyres as Massa who's driving a car that's predictably tough on its tyres and is slower than the McLaren, Hamilton seems to be able to get the tyres working quite well this season and doesn't seem to be trashing them any more than Button so his pace might put them together around pit stop times since he'll have fewer sets of tyres.

Of course I've not actually seen how the tyres are lasting round Catalunya so this might not happen, but I can see Massa or Hamilton getting a penalty or visiting the stewards after the race.

Exciting times!!

Not sure at the moment but he can't really change till next season anyway. The mid field has really closed up so far this year so there may be some good choices come the end of the year.

Mclaren recently seem to me to be really good at making cars which are not quite good enough. Or just making a load of mistakes.

:-(

Can't see what the difference is running out of fuel after qualifying or running out straight after the race.

McLaren need a new team principal. No one should tolerate the things that have occurred in that team this year. They are a laughing stock and are acting like a bunch of total amateurs. How the even had the nerve to initially contest the decision beats me. If I was Button or Hamilton I'd be busy searching for Martin Whitmarsh's management skills.

I can't help feeling that this penalty is overly harsh because it's in Spain, with Alonso in 3rd, now 2nd, & there's no love lost between Hamilton/McLaren & those guys. :suspect:

He should have lost his last lap, & maybe Q3 times, but sending him to the back is victimisation IMO.

The Brits love a conspiracy. You'd be better off questioning why McLaren is now so inept. THEY have cost Lewis this race, and others, not the race stewards.

I agree that McLaren messed up & that a penalty should be applied.

But the penalty should be applied to the laps or quali that were affected, not the whole of quali.

We all know that F1 history is littered with inconsistent & partisan penalties & decisions & this is definately another case of that IMO.

Incidently, McLaren were honest about the stop being fuel related. Other teams I could mention would have no hesitation in fabricating another, acceptable, reason which could have kept the stewards happy.

That's the Brits for you!

Todays result speaks for itself regarding the McLaren debacle. Hamilton beat Button fair and square - unfortunately not the boring German. They are lucky to have any points from the week-end.

I really think Whitmarsh needs to look at his style of management - the idiotic mistakes are costing them dearly race after race.

Fantastic result for Williams and Maldonado - and keeping Alonso at bay, excellent.

Williams pit garage is currently on fire.
Aparrently a Kers fire. Some injuries have been reported.
