I was thinking that but for me the Sky coverage just still hasn't gelled. Waaaaaaay too much waffle before the race. The BBC use to struggle to fill the hour they sometimes had but Sky has an hour and half and seemingly no where near the amount of VTs to show, so it is a lot of Brundle and Hill reminiscing and guessing about stuff.

Croft and Brundle still just dont seem to work quite right, guess that might come with time. Davidson seems to just spend any time he has on air saying how he was right about something....he says the word "I" far too often.

Also annoyed that Sky don't seem to have any easy catch-up system on their website. With the BBC you could just go to their F1 site and watch the practices, quali and races in full shortly after they have finished. Sky just seem to have random clips or very short highlights.
 
I agree Tom, Vettel is under pressure now it will be interesting to see how he reacts.

It reminded me of the ITV coverage where everything happened in the ad breaks.
 
Just seen that Karthikeyan got a post race drive through for the Vettel incident. That just seems crazy!

yep very strange. looked like a racing incident to me. Vettel is on the verge of spitting the dummy if he hasn't already.

Glad Hamilton got the best of the front runners. Shame for Schumi.
 
Fair play to Perez..... good to see some new blood at the too and great to see sauber on the podium.
 
Just seen the bbc interview of vettle... What a nob, "it seems there are idiots driving [on the track]".. You drove into him you fool.

Shame for Perez though, I reckon he would have won the race by 4 seconds if not more at the pace he was going before hitting that curb and running wide..

Really enjoyed the GP on the iPad sat there in bed this morning! Didn't realise until talking to a mate this week that I could get the F1 channel being an HD subscriber, I thought it was Sky Sports subscription only.

Great drive by Perez, but superb from Alonso, that's what makes him such a good driver. A crap car and he can bring it home in fine style! Love him or loathe him you have to admire him...

Don't think it was so much code as 'Slow down or you're going to drop it', which of course he nearly did.

Even Sauber would take second rather than risk putting it into a gravel trap.

The fact they use Ferrari engines don't come into it IMO ;)
 
Well that was all a bit frantic wasn't it! Excellent drive by Perez, not bad by Alonso, his luck was in with timings and benefitting form others mistakes, but I guess grudging credit [I still dont like him] for keeping it on the black stuff and out of the way of other cars...however more credit for his post race comments that in essence he WAS lucky, the car is still a dog that needs a lot of work.

No idea why the stewards think Karthikeyan deserves any kind of penalty for either incident, at best they were both racing incidents, with Button it was I would say more Buttons fault and certainly the one with Vettel was, imo, more Vettel than him. :shrug:

As have been mentioned, Vettel is already seeming a little rattled, if this season continues in this vein, it could be a real test of his mettle... I know its cliched, but its easy to win a championship with a superior car, but can he hold it together if he has to actually fight for it? I simply have no idea to be honest, looking forward to finding out though.

I enjoyed the sky coverage, much better feel to it this time.

Cracking race, even with a big break for the rain.

Or the fact that several of Ferraris management were wandering away from the Sauber pits shortly before the message got sent out... ;)

Don't really think there were any 'manufacturer orders' as such, but with Perez coming through Ferraris 'Young Driver Scheme' and the engine supplier of Sauber being a certain Red team, gives rise to conspiracy theories and the like.

Indeed it does! He did outstandingly well nevertheless. He overshadowed Senna's great drive.

Also, I really think the Ice Man (or hombre del hielo as they say here :lol:) will win this year.
 
I've got a feeling we may see Senna atop the podium at least once this year. The Williams seems to be pretty well made (for the first time in ages), and could surprise a few on a tight twisty circuit.

Really? To what benefit would that be to him? It's not a good car, you've a team mate who does his best to undermine your position or progress so he looks great. I'd stay at sauber
 
This season certainly is looking exciting, more teams are competitive and some promising drives from young drivers.

I've just watched a replay of NK v SV and Vettel keeps to his line and NK moves across behind and misjudges where his front wing is. NK was at fault after all.
 
Way too much waffling on the sky, no quality about the show imo. They badly need someone with some personality, it's all too dead pan and boring. Have to say i always enjoy Button and Brundles banter though .

You obviously don't like Alonso then - don't dispute your point though.

Agreed, it isn't a good car but any racing driver turning down a Ferrari drive? Unless they're going to get into the other big two, or stay with, at best, a mid-field team? Don't think so.

I know where I'd put my money if I were a betting person:thumbs:

The only reason that Ferrari managed to get anything from Sepang was Alonso's driving ability, the same reason as they only got Alonso anywhere close at Melbourne. It remains to be seen if the return to Europe sees both Ferraris become more competitive (Through the replacement of Massa or the general upgrades), but theres definitely something going on within the halls of power at Maranello.

This I agree with - albeit somewhat fortuitous particularly with Butholio's first lap shenanigans.

Unfortunately I believe we have seen the best of Massa - post the horrific Hungaroring incident he has just been so off the pace. Shame, although I believe Ferrari have shown great support, this will be his last year - probably before the end of the season if he dosen't start getting results. I'm actually surprised it wasn't at the end of last season.

Undoubtedly Alonso's win will have buoyed Ferrari's spirits, I don't believe the 'Sauber Conspiracy Theory', but Montezemolo's patience is wearing pretty thin I think:bat:

Interesting that Button isn't in the headlines for bitching about Karthikeyan. A true World Champion does not look for excuses?

Yeah not as if on lap 49 he was all the rear of the ferrari and told he had better and newer tyres and then next lap he was told to back off basicly and stay in second just find it weird that was all

the main race feed comes from local directors, not Sky, the BBC would have exactly the same feed.

I thought almost every race was covered by F1's own TV service. I am sure I have read before that Japan and Monaco are the exceptions.

For the 2010 season, the World Feed was produced by FOM for every race apart from the Monaco Grand Prix, produced by Télé Monte Carlo, and Japanese Grand Prix, produced by Fuji Television.

I assume this is still in affect then

FOM provide the feeds(sky f1 channel shows more feeds on red button)but they don't direct it, that's down to the local host, as has been mentioned several times on BBC commentary and itv over the years..
 
Superb race today.....dead chuffed for Rosberg, and even happier that the miserable Spanish twonk could only manage 9th!! :D

Well done the McLaren boys great result!!

Have to backtrack on my comments earlier in this thread, sky got it bang on today, plenty of humour and relaxed style.

Great show.

Anyone notice the awkward moment with Martin and EJ on the grid, they ignored each other and then Martin said hi to DC.

That was like watching something from the 80s or 90s....

Good to have it on BBC - great coverage and commentary. The lovely Lee Mckenzie could talk all day for all I care.....

Button showed class in that last section of the race after his pit stop cock-up. Vettel got himself owned by the Mclaren's, but Rosberg looked fantastic. Grosjean looks to be a prospect for Renault - gutted that Raikkenan's tyres went sour... would have been great to see him up there with the leaders.
 
I have only just caught the highlights - that was some exciting racing from about lap 43 onwards...!
When are we going to be given some idea of just how big, bad and how many marbles there are - certain shots made it look like half the track was covered in huge lumps of rubber - I would love to see what the track looks like on foot just after a race - I would also love to see an F1 car alongside a road car to illustrate just how fast they can go/stop and corner.
A good looking season so far - hope it continues !

It was a great race. Johny Herbert on sky was great, and quality grid walk moment where bundle and ejit blanked each other
