The 2011 Slimming Thread!!

I actually work out alot, and often I find good deals at Groupon on monthly gym memberships and yoga classes. I love doing yoga especially and I find it really helps me control my weight. I also love running and there are alot of really great running forums online, which are especially good for beginners.

This week lost 1 lb :)

Week 1: lost 6lb
Week 2: lost 2 1/2 lb
Week 2: lost 3 1.2 lb
Week 4: lost 1lb

Ooo I forgot to do mine!

1lb and a half this week. so up to and including this weeks

Slimming World weight losses...... Total of 42lbs to lose.

Week 1: 2 1/2 lb loss - Leaving 39 1/2 lbs to lose :-D
Week 2: 3 1/2 lb loss - Leaving 36 lbs to lose :-D
Week 3: 2 1/2 lb loss - Leaving 33 1/2 lbs to lose :-D
Week 4: 1 1/2 lb loss - Leaving 32lbs to lose :-D

I'd really like to lose a lot of weight. But have just failed (again) at a weight loss programme. Having lost quite a bit of weight, I'm now back weighing more than I ever have.

Is there anyone here who has lost a serious amount of weight (say 4-5 stone) and kept it off long term, say more than 3 years.

Sorry to sound so negative, but I'm on the verge of giving up.

Patrick, it can be done but we can all slip back into old habits without even realising it. I lost nearly 3 st last year but in the last 6 months my weight has been creeping up again so I have decided to tackle it again - my main issue is what I eat as I go to the gym 4-5 times a week.

You have to ask yourself, why has the weight come back on? Only you will know the answer to that one. I've recently started using http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ as a food and exercise diary and have it as an app on my phone. I've found that by making regular entries about my diet really makes me think about what I'm eating.

Cheers Colin, 3 stone is impressive. Did you do that as a crash diet or as a steady weight loss over a period of time?
For me it is breaking the habits of a lifetime. Very hard to do.
I'll look at myfitnesspal.

Hello Guys!

Thought I'd give you my input about what has worked for me over the past 3 weeks .... yes 3 weeks!

I used to go to the gym at least 5 times a week for up to 2 hours but I just couldn't fit it into my lifestyle no longer so I've decieded to excercise in a way that works for me.

I quit the gym and did no excerise for at least 10 months and it left me looking like this:

I was watching Fitness TV one day and found out about the KettleWorx programme www.kettleworx.co.uk and I have to say it works amazing well and fits into my busy lifestyle.

After doing the 20 minute workouts 3 times a week for 3 weeks, I now look like this:

The biggest difference I notice is the change in my energy. I am more active.

I don't weigh myself or take notice of body fat, as I believe a girl can become a little obsessed! I just focus on the results in how I feel and how my body looks.

My aim is to get rid of this dreaded pouch!

So I'll be keeping everyone posted!

And well done for everyones work so far!

Peach/ Sharleigh,

That is extremely impressive! Well done you.

(Nice pants by the way - someone had to comment!)

Well done Sharleigh, great results there. Did you buy the DVD's or is the programme on the TV?

Thanks! .. and seeing as though I can do my workouts at home I can wear my pants! saves on washing I guess!

I bought the complete DVD set with the 10lbs Kettlebell....
I know £90 seems alot but I saw it as that would have been spent on 3 months gym membership, whereas I can keep the DVD's forever.
It's been a brilliant investment. All the workouts are vairied so I don't get bored, plus I have a planner to fill out day-to-day making sure I fit in the 3 workouts a week and eat well.
You also get a healthy eating plan with great tips and recipes.

Well done Sarah!

Sarah, well done :D

Thank you both :)

Yes I lost 6st 4lbs about 33 years ago and have not put it back on. The secret is in not eating to even near excess.
Good luck.

Hi Colin, that's very inspiring. Do you remember what you did at the time. Diet? exercise?

Achieved the result by diet alone. It was very strict and my only sin was A small piece of cheese when desperate!

Hard going but worth it as it trained me to resist sugary foods and large helpings

If you can stand the initial shock it gets easier with time.

Good luck.

Well done all you losers!

I lost nearly two stone over the summer, by riding my bike to work everyday (6.5 miles each way). However, at the start of September, early one wet and windy morning I came off said bike and broke my hand/ wrist.

I haven't ridden since then and rather depressingly have put on 11 pounds of the weight I worked so hard to lose.

Gutted is not the word.

:'(

Dalton, sorry to hear about your accident :(
My bike is packed away for winter, far to windy for me to be on it now.

Thankyou and to you too. Maintaining on a difficult week is excellent news! Could have well been bad news :) Plus you've done so well already too :)

Well after a week of eating to total excess, I am sitting here feeling bloated and weak. I have decided enough is enough.

Have ordered a Kettlebell and DVD. To compliment the gym equipment I already have (currently gathering dust). Going to detox over the weekend and hit it hard from next week. I simply can't face reaching the weight I was in January again.

Wish me luck!

On a side note - what is going on with the lack of before and after photo's in this thread? Is this not a photography forum?

:)

Well done on being positive Dalton, wishing lots of luck and supporting you from the sidelines :)
