Congrats gary (and Ed_Gary for not going mad and overboard).

After my last post I got down to 19-8 on the weds before easter.
I had a bad easter week/end full of takeaways from thursday through to tuesday/weds. So put on 4lb back to 19-12.
Been much better since then, and weighed myself yesterday.

19-7 :D
Daughter had a birthday sleepover last night so I nicked a couple of their slices of thin pineapple pizza, to go with my indian takeaway (specifically asked for the chicken balti to be made low fat, so he didnt use oil, and I got boiled rice).
Two sliced of pizza and leftover curry today and it's not too bad.

Easter has taken its toll, :(, only 2 pounds up so not bad considering I have been eating EVERYTHING in sight for 2 weeks! :D

Back on track this week!

Ladybird that's not bad i only have to smell it and I would have put on that, let alone if I eat it.

Sunday night weigh-in

16st 2 1/2 lb

A loss this week of 3 1/2 lb

My 'whoops' week continued :bonk: now put on 5 lbs, oops!

Have never owned a games console and just ordered my first one.....a Wii and Wii fit :woot: Pick it up tomorrow!

My ELMM (Eat Less, Move More) diet is lacking in the move more dept! Hope this will help get me back on track, looks like fun :D

Ladybird good luck with the wii-fit.

MY Sunday night weigh-in

15st 13 1/2 lb

A loss this week of 3 lb which means I have done 3 St :woot: Next Sunday I am off on two weeks holiday I hate to think what I will put back on, but I wont worry about it until I get back home.

Good luck with the Wii Fit LB. Theyre great fun to use :D

This morning I dropped below the half way marker on way to 12 stone! :D Still keeping my diet going, stopped counting as much as I feel I now have a handle of a decent days intake. I am also walking hills more or less every day, and will attempt to keep it up.

I am aiming for 11.5 stone or so. Going to reach it with ease at this point. 6 weeks after Foggy got me on this diet thing, it feels much easier than ever not to need snacks or treats.

Gary.

Noooo who else am I gonna share my calorie intake with???

Congrats on the halfway marker though.

I must admit Im struggling to get a *good* hold on things this past week or so. Just giving into temptation too much.

Right, I understand how much moral support can mean, so as of tomorrow I am back counting :)

Let's crack the whip!!!

Gary.

Man, I wish I could put the weight on, nevermind lose it.

By the time I've eaten a MacD I've already burnt off the calories. Stupid Ectomorphism!

Can I add myself to the list even if my goal is the opposite to everyone else?

I'm going for 5,000 calories a day! Clean food, no dirrrty McDonalds.

Can I join in?

My start date was 1st October 08 and 7 months on I've lost 4 stone 1 & 1/2 pounds. WI is tomorow morning, so hopefully the loss will be more than that!

I'm also challenging myself to an exercise bike ride from John O' Groats to Lands end (virtually of course on my exercise bike in my dining room). I've done 17 miles on that so far.

Hi Annie

Of course you can join in :)
That is some serious weight loss, congratulations!
Are you far from your target weight?

Been to WI this morning and have lost another 2 and a half pounds this week.

Total loss is now 4 stone 4lbs :D

Marcel.. unfortunately I'm not as near to target as I'd like to be.. 3 stone 9.5 to lose to get me to target.. although I could still go lower than that but that seems a million miles away, so 3 stone 9.5 will do for now and I'll re-evaluate nearer the time :D

Damn keep forgetting to join in on this.

4 weeks in now and have lost 10lbs - though randomly that was in 2 weeks on 5lb losses :| It seems I only loose weight every other week! But getting there :D

Wii and Wii fiit are ACE!!!!! :D

Sorry not been on here much as a result! I think I am turning the corner again and weight stable, hope it will start reducing again.

Well done everyone else! :woot:

I'm off to play again! :exit:

:)

To be honest,I got ill,For maybe three days,Nothing bad,And while laying there not wanting to eat anything I was thinking of all the crap I ate,When I got better and started eating i just kind of though before eating and most the time felt I didn't need to have that snack etc,With meals i ate the green stuff first and gradually worked my way onto the not so green stuff,Chips etc.

Just think before you eat and you'll begin to notice it's a want more than a need

After some two years of not exercising and feeding my face until its sick, i have decided to start training again and loose some weight.
I have been advised by the doctor that my cholesterol is quite high, and i have to have a Glucose tolerance test in about two weeks time.
So i have to make some drastic alterations to my lifestyle, as i have put on around four stone, and feel sluggish and tired all the time.

Any advice will be more than welcome.

I think that's good advice.

Think about your feelings. are you hungry or just going through a routine of eating?

Paul McKenna's advice is good. He made a couple of books and a CD on the technique but it really boils down to three things:

1. Eat what you want.

2. Only eat when you are hungry.

3. Stop when you feel full. Eating slowly and putting down the fork between each mouthfull helps here.

I have also found that it is a good idea to drink a glass of water if you feel hungry. If the hunger is still there after about 20 minutes then it is real, otherwise is was thirst which was mis-interpreted as hunger.

New boy reporting in..........

Well I have been losing weight for just under a year and can announce that I have lost 2 stone :woot:

It has taken longer than I had intended and there have been several diversion from the intended path but I stuck with the program and got my mile stone. Unfortunately there still quite a way to go as I am rather rotund............

Well done to all those that made the change in their lifestyle and good luck to those still working at it.

Tim

That's excellent Tim :) Congratulations!

Mine has stalled at the moment. Not beating myself up over it though.

Started back on a modified Atkins/GI diet at the begining of last week, I don't weigh myself, I just go by what size of jeans I can fit into....

Maybe you're just meant to be sleek. You can rock the sleek look! If you're healthy you need to be and find people who are happy with the way you are - not what you could be.

Off course I never take this advice myself

Have you tried weight training?

Now up 8 lbs :( b****r!

Starting again! (again!)

TARGET: 10 lbs in 10 weeks...................

At my last post i was 16 st 9 3/4lb (26th May) now down to 15st 6lb that is a total loss of 3 1/2 st i would like to lose at least one more stone but boy it is getting harder to lose it.

Keep going Gary!!!! It will slow down you just have to keep at it! Don't lose heart like I did, I'm now having to do 8 lbs for the second time as I let it creep back on :bonk:

Not posted myself for many months now. Have been on diet though also to try and take weight off dodgy knee.Had a couple of near misses and a fall with it giving way, so over the months ive gone from my peak at 133kg down to 120kg but like Gary have come to a bit of a stuck.Daughters mate in weight watchers though going to try and scrounge book. Good luck everyone hope you hit your targets, will check in abit more regularly know see how folks are doing. REGARDS TO ALL

I'll join in because I need some kind of 'journal' to chart my progress. Basically I'm 25 and, up until two years ago I was very unhealthy and overweight. I weighed 17st 4lbs or so. I joined the gym in April 07 and since then I've dropped to about 13st 6lbs give or take a few pounds. I've done it through heavy weightlifting, cardio exercise, exercise classes etc and, at the same time, eating much healthier food and less snacking/junk food. I'm far from finished though and I'm constantly looking to improve. Because I do a lot of weightlifting it seems like my weight teeters around the same level (dropping a couple of pounds or so, then putting it back on the next few days) but it is slowly dropping. The average seems to be that I've been losing about 2-3lbs a month or so this year but that is misleading as I expect I've put on at least that much from going to the gym. My most impressive stat (IMO) is that I've gone from a 38"-40" waist to a 34" waist - none of my clothes fit now :D

I'd quite like to jump aboard on this...i'm on Weight Watchers and although it has been slow, have managed to lose a total of 15.5 lbs since last year...

I'm now at 11st 2lbs and hoping to get to about 9st (i'm a wee shortie at 5')

Anyway, hope everone is going well with their loss - it's so easy putting it on, and so tough getting it back off again!...

If anyones looking for a change to their usual exercise/run/gym routine in their quest to loose weight..may i sugget you look into Crossfit. It may seem tough at first, and certainy wont be everyone cup of tea but after 2 weeks you'll notice the difference and you'll fell your self becoming stronger (and loose weight too). The Crossfit group I train with ranges from a middle aged housewife wanting to loose some weight to a special forces soldier recovering from a parachute accident.

Cheers for the excel spreadsheet, gonna use it for my own personal use.
Hope all is going well (ive only jus found this thread and not read every post lol)

With too much work and far too much stress at work I unlearned to eat right. My weight went up from 80kg ( 12,6stones ) to now 90kg ( 14,17stones ). Although I was running quite a lot and even ran a marathon 4 years ago I never got back to 80kgs. It got worse and last sunday I entered the 90kgs mark. Time for a change.
I started weight watchers - my wife´s got the books so I don´t have to join fat fighters :D . Along with it I´m going to the gym doing boxing on monday and wednesday and will to some spinning on fridays or saturdays.
My goal is to pass the magic 79kg mark ( 12,28 stones ).
Amen

Even when I got to a size 10 I was still 11stone, it seems I'm supposed to be heavy, my freind even asked my mum if I was sick because I looked so ill when I was a size 10, I've now gone bk to a 14/16 in size and I love my curves, would jus like to tone up, so I've been doing wii fit, wii biggest loser and wii active, after xmas I'm getting the wii shape too, they are great fun and did tone me up last time I used them :)

I started a self designed diet based on calorie intake at the end of July, five months ago. Weighing in at 24st 7lb I decided I need to curb the steady increase of a stone a year :thumbsdown:

I am now 20 st 12lb and hoping for another 5lb by Christmas but in this snowy cold weather its going to be hard
