Hi Matt

Welcome! I am 5'8.5" and just over a stone lighter than you, but I am a woman so probably have more fat than you anyway!! How much weight do you want to lose? I want to lose about 8 stone initially so that I can start trying for a baby, which is something I really wanna do, so hoping that will keep me motivated!

Anyway, good luck and stay around for support :)

Hi Onikami, good luck for your 8lb. God I wish I only had 8lb to lose - but I do know it's harder the closer you are so hope it's not too much of a struggle for you x

Well i've been working hard in both the pool and gym since the new year and happy to say i have lost!

As of the 4th January i was 15 stone 9Ibs and having just weighed myself i'm now 13 Stone 4Ibs so its going well :)

And thats just from hard work at the gym none of this diet stuff, still eating plenty but burning it off. Dunno if it will help but this is what i'm doing now

6.00AM Breakfast
6.45AM in the pool for 1600m
8.20 walk to work, bout a mile
8.40 start work
6.00 finish work then walk home again, so another mile :)
8.00PM hit the gym and do the following
Warm up on the static bike, normally spend about 20-30 minutes on here, but then again i really do enjoy riding so maybe some will do less, and try and crack out about 10-13 kms on there. From here i move onto the rowing machine and do 2000m on there, now get me time down to 7.30 on there so its coming down, was up at about 9 minutes the first time i did it and nearly died in the process! From the rowing machine i have a 5 minute break then hit the skiing machine, this is one i really dont enjoy but hey its good for cardio and crank out about 20 minutes on this. And finally finish on the weights for about 30 mins

And then three times a week i hit the running machine and swap that with the skiing machine. My main aim was to improve my cardio and burn the fat away, hence why i am doing so much on the bike machine etc. And so far it is working, and i feel so much better for doing it :) Also what a boost when people start noticing it as well. Trouble is now all my clothes are far to big now, had, well i'll call it an 'interesting' moment yesterday at work. walking to the main till and me trousers fall down lol. time for a belt!!

But nah keep up the good work guys!!!
all the best
Matt :)

I'm working nights and I think I'm putting on weight. Sent a photo to my Mum of me and my boyfriend and she said, 'you look like your putting on weight and you boyfriend looks a bit scary'?

Hmmmmmmph

Could be worse, she could have said you look scary :naughty:

I'm very unhappy with my weight in recent weeks. Thanks, I think, to a new drug i've had to start taking my weight has rocketed by 9kg in as many weeks. For someone who has been a nice steady 77/78kg most of his adult life that kind of sucks :( (77kg is 12 stone in old money).

Pretty good first week ( I know it can be the best)

18st 10lbs thats minus 8lbs.

OH lost 6lbs and is very happy as well.

Good luck every one lets keep it up must admit had a bit of a blow out on Tuesday focus day pub lunch and a Chinese on the way home. Matt if i did your gym workout i would not have to worry about my weight i would be dead.

matt what you are doing is far too much there is no way you body could keep up with that every day of the week, to lose weight you have to make lifestyle changes and not let it take over your life.

heya chris, its in no way taking over me life, i'm just enjoying it and i'm having rest days in between for example i'll do monday-tuesday off on wednesday thursday off friday then saturday then just a swim on the sunday. It really has helped me though and i'm in the process of applying for the RAF so do me good to get used to do pysical activaties as oftern as possible cos i know the training is gonna be a body shock to begin with. And if i can go in as prepared as poss all the better :)

Although as of next week i am reducing the cardio a bit and now starting on the weights more :)

all the best
Matt :)

Well done everyone! Keep it up!

Bunnyg82, How you doing? :) It can take a couple of weeks for diets to start taking effect, mine took weeeeks! But eventually did manage to lose a stone in 12 months. very slow and steady, apparently it stays off better that way!

I'm now only 2 pounds away from losing 2 stone! :D

I have just started using this: http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate

You can set up your own diary of fods you eat and excercise you do and it works out your net calorie intake and expenditure.

It can track your weight and suggests how many calories to eat per day for your desired weight loss gain.

You don't need to know how many calories are in each food either as you can search for a food and when you find a match, you add it to your 'plate'.

You can also search for various excercises and add these to your list.

And it's free!

Steve.

Well said! your body can adjust a lot with water / fat/ muscle differences, especially water!!!! So much that it can go up and down on a daily basis, keeping going is the only way! ..... and an 'up' week is also a good incentive to work a bit harder! ;)

KEEP GOING EVERYONE!!!!!!!!! :woot:

hey dropped 23 1/2 lbs in last 8 weeks god i feel good

Sunday night weigh in

17st 0 1/4lb

A loss of 4lb this week

Where is every body lets not give up on this thread.

well done Gary!

I'm still popping in on this thread from time to time but I have slowed up a bit, now only half a pound away from losing 2 stone!

AND I WAS BAD TODAY AND ATE JUNK!!!!! :bonk:

Ladybird a little bit of what you fancy does you good.

I am so up and down with the weight loss/exercise jazz! I seem to have alternate weeks of being really bad and eating loads of **** and then a week of being really good and exercising loads and so on...i'm my own worst enemy!! :p well done to everyone who is going at it though! and LadyBird - 2 stone is major!!!! well done!

Thanks Han! It has taken over a year to do, keep going on the 'good' weeks, once you have got two or three in a row the rest are a lot easier. slow and steady. I find watching losses over a longer period better as you can see progress, started at just one to two pounds a month, now doing almost a pound a week!

(Did just have a week off for my birthday! :D)

I'm going to jump on board with this. I'm currently 13 stone 6 (thereabouts) and for my height I need to drop between 1 1/2 and 2 stone. I've already dropped just shy of a stone since Christmas, down purely to hitting the gym 3 times a week. I'm now starting a calorie controlled diet, and I'm actually going to try Slimfast too, although that may limit my calorie intake a little too much as done correctly, slimfast users only take in around 1000 calories a day. I'm talking to my doctor before starting though!

How is everyone? I started dieting a week ago (well 6 days), and I think I have done really well. I am approx 14 stone (never weighed in), a guess. I wan't to loose 2 stone give or take. I have managed to cut my daily calorific intake by over 1,000 calories per day, every day this week. Not only that, I have gone from NO fruit and veg, to close to my 5 a day, every day. Lastly, instead of burning a required 200 calories per day to reach my target, I reckon I am managing 3x that amount. If so, I will have dropped almost 1,400 calories per day since starting! :D

Sorry for blowing my own trumpet, just feels good to make an effort and be able to sustain!!

I have subscribed to www.nutracheck.co.uk which I am using to record all food and exercise.

Gary.

Okay - found this thread, and assuming I can join???

For over 15 years I have sinned. Once a muscular active youth (wasn't everyone!), now a lethargic slob - can't run 100yrds without a medic team and BP over 100 :(

Started dieting & walking a week ago

Start weight 14st 8lbs (not so diddy after all then )

1st week ends at 14-6, nothing drastic, but strangely feeling better already, perhaps that's the 1 mile walk every day (very old dog is knackered after that, sadly, I used to walk her up to 14 miles at a time and she ran around at least 4 times that too !!!)

Aim? A whopping 2 1/2 stone off!!!

Good luck & perseverance everyone :)

DD

HI have subscribed to www.nutracheck.co.uk which I am using to record all food and exercise

No you haven't, you've subscribed to www.nutracheckformen.co.uk

I too have jumped back on this particular train with a bit of gusto.
A HUGE congrats to everyone who has lost. Some amazing acheivements so far......both little and large (2 stone! )

I started on Tues/Weds ish, a day or so after Gary, joining the same site and micro counting the calories at www.nutracheckformen.co.uk
I started the year at 21st 4, and last week was 20st 7 (which is where i've been hovering for a month or two).

With calorie counting and having started Aikido last month, I'm now at 20st 00 which is my first target, not hit that for ages :)

Continuing to calorie count and change my permanent diet to be much more healthier.

I even had a chinese takeaway last night and was still well under my allowance!

My Sunday night weigh-in

16st 10 lb

A loss this week of 4 1/4 lb that makes it 2st 3 3/4 lb since the beginning of the year well happy.

Good to see more people coming on board and good luck to every one.

Good Luck to the newbies!

I have now officially lost 2 stone since starting diet in Jan 08, only a couple of pounds to go to target, really pleased with the results, back in my favorite jeans!!!!! Hope to get some before / after pics done soon!

Hey guys - I'm joining you lot as well as I'm overweight and need to move the flab!

Overall I'm fairly fit as I ride my bike to work and back for about 90 minutes every weekday, however I've been naughty for the last 6 months or so and getting take away curries about twice a week and it's made me put on weight despite the exercise. Also was indulging in something sweet from my local bakery at least every 2nd day...

So as of last week I've been cutting out all take aways, no sugar goes in my mouth and carb intake is only in the form of whole grain rice. Been eating muesli for breakfast (the good, non-sugared variety), a vegetable soup for lunch (with no bread) and usually a vegetable-on-rice with some pesto or tomato-based sauce for dinner. In between if I'm hungry I'll eat some fruit.

It's working already and I'm starting to feel lighter. Don't have a scale, but I'll know when this has worked when I have a flat stomach again... :)

Thanks for the encouragement and best of luck to everyone - I'm with you all to slim down in 2009!

My Sunday night weigh-in

16st 9 1/4 lb

A loss this week of 3/4 lb oh well a loss is a loss.

3/4 of a lb is 3/4 lb that you had last week but don't now!
It's all loss!

Congrats DD, LB, ekimeno et al :)

I weighed myself again last weds and I'm down to 19 12.
Not weighing myself until Sunday now.
Not had a brilliant weekend with food, but still only maxed at 2500 calories (ish).
Eating fruit and veg, and (mostly) staying away from the naughty stuff like processed pastry etc.

Lets be careful out there this weekend. Dont eat to many Easter eggs.:D

Sunday night weigh-in

16ST 6lb

A loss this week of 3 1/4 lb very happy but the easter eggs keep winking at me.
