That's me sorted for crimbo...

That is ACE! You even get a picnic basket!

Isn't it strange, us boys and our "toys". I was in a local Hobbycraft a couple of weeks ago with the missus, and noticed that they had the Airfix 1/24 scale Spitfire on sale at around £30.
When I was younger, it was the kit to have, simply because of the detail - cockpit, engine, machine guns/ammo boxes.
I mentioned it to the missus and she just told me to grow up:(
Do any females understand us or vice versa?

I looked at that in the Lego store just last weekend, it looks as good in the flesh as in the pics there :)

I got the VW Camper a couple of years ago and love it :D

These aren't actual lego releases, but this guy has created some superb F1 cars with lego and sells the plans

I was looking at a Lancaster kit a few weeks ago and my Mrs said something similar.
I quoted the 'Boys toys' bit and she said " More like blokes jokes!"

You don't really need an answer there do you?!:D:p

It's nice. But not "real" Lego though, is it....not much different to any other model kit.
Whatever happened to having a huge box full of assorted bricks / bases / windows etc. and building freeform?
I know....I'll get my coat....

...............:coat:

:D Luckily I have one of those Mrs who also collects lego - we have a cute little country cottage and everything looks fine in the lounge until you notice the lego models strategically placed around - she managed to stick the Avengers Quinjet model on one of my B&W speakers!!!

I've also ordered the super star destroyer - got some severe building to do in the new year!

No need to get your coat.

I agree. When I were a lad, I used to have a massive toy box full of lego bricks, grass bases as well as 'concrete' bases and could spend entire days building whole streets of houses. I never really liked the more technical lego.

My eldest brother gave away my Lego to his mate's kids.
There was a HUGE box of it, and it wasn't as though I had fully stopped playing with it either.
I was gutted, and (quite rightly I think), went bezerk at my brother.

I was 23.

One of our nieces made her husband throw away all his model cars when they got married:eek:
I think the writing is on the wall from the start with that relationship:(

Unfortuntely, my cover would probably be blown as id never letter her play with it. Im sure the Missus would cotton on fairly quickly ;)

I thought I was above legos and toys. But then I got a "hydro-powered" car that you had to build - a bit like lego/airfix (cut from sprues but click together without glue). I spent maybe an hour building it and it was the best non-girl related fun I'd had this year.

Clear case for justifiable homicide there, it'd stand up in any court in the land.( if the jury were all blokes that is)

Agree, real Lego is a pile of bricks and your imagination. It is what made Lego special. These kits - very nice as they are - could be from any where.

This is what lego was for me - a collection of bricks with which you could make whatever you wanted. I made a Thundercats tank, a house with opening garage door and a little car, and numerous other things. I was restricted by imagination and the amount of bricks I had.

From what I gather, the patent ran out so you had other companies making duplicate/generic versions. Lego then switched to licensed stuff and tie-ins to make money.

I occasionally find myself wistfully gazing at the larger airfix kits of spitfire, lancaster, titanic whatever and thinking "If only I didn't have hands like pigs t*ts and could do that justice assembling and painting it Id get it."
But then I think "What the hell would I do with it once it was done?" More dusting.

Precisely. Whereas "real" Lego, you just take it apart and put it away, ready to start again next time.
(Of course, leaving one stray brick on the floor, face up, for someone to step on barefoot. ;) )

Ahem, I have the Vw Camper and Mini Cooper (not impressed)

This was my camper with a few extras done for a facebook photo challenge
Had to buy another kit to get the camera :(
