That MT-1 thing...

There could well be a couple on their way to you sometime soon :)

I think you made need some sort of contrasting leatherette for the grip.

I can have a peek at them if you like Nick. I have some chocolate leatherette here as well but will see what it looks like first!

Step 6 - Mould off, ready for a final trim and re-covering.

Step 7 - cover it up, taking on board Nick's advice :D

Bit of touching up with dye around the edges and it's sorted I reckon ...

Cracking job Arthur

Ah - but now I seem to have hit a no-inspiration-zone unfortunately. No idea what to do next... I could use it I suppose :D

Right then, looking for inspiration I dug out the Zenit 312 and right away I had the next bit of fun! As I said previously even Zenit had realised that cameras need a bit of shape to them, whether or not they went completely OTT is a matter of opinion (but I like them) and is neither here nor there... next for the MT-1 is a rear grip pad on the film door... something like this:

Hi Arthur,

That would be great if you could have a look at them, since they're just paperweights at the moment. If they're beyond help I'm sure you can turn then into some sort of Frankencamera

Pah - here I am cutting myself on the razor-sharp edge of camera design, and you call it Frankencamera :(

:lol::lol::lol:

Said in a most complimentary way.

Yeah...

Anyway, the story continues. Well, actually it ends because I am going to put a film in it and use it... otherwise all this is pointless

Step 8 - using same gooey stuff as before, mould a comfortable thumbhold on the camera back.

Step 9 - The fun bit... try and cover the hump with leatherette without any joins!

Step 10 - Engage smug git mode, sit back and relax :D

Turned out quite well actually, rather pleased with the way it went... but not so sure I'd do it again though!

Arthur

Cheers :D

Not yet, I am chasing a full set atm, so I get a spare body too... there's a 35, 50, 135, and some other odds. And found another Konica!

thats not fair...the spare body should come to me.......I'll then get the 50mm straight away....

You of course get a whole load of thanks for it

If I get it, there will be a spare 50mm as well. We can fight about it later, but so far not heard a reply to my q's yet.

give me his addy, and I'll pay him a visit...lol...

( you of course know that if cameras are not used regularly, the shutters tend to lock up. So really I'll ensure that your spare body stays healthy...:D

Oh sure, I send the lads 'round... that'll convince him to let me have them cheaper

Just cooked the forst film out of this today, looking good so far so now I really am rather pleased! Still looking for an Autoreflex but this will do admirably until I find one :D

Should get some scans later today but I may not get time... 'tis my birthday after all

Happy Birthday Arthur, have a virtual  on me

(right - better get my 'arris out there, while the daylights holding and get that new Voigtlander tested )

Thanks BY - good luck with the Perkeo

Arthru

Happy Birthday Arthur
Have a  on me too.
As it's your birthday you should be able to what you want
:thumbs::thumbs:

Thanks people, was a nice day spent with my family, then an evening with not too much beery-type stuff and a Chinese :D

Also managed to scan the negs so will do something to get some on here later maybe.

Arthur

As promised then, a few of the shots from the MT-1...

this last one is a failed flash pic - I forgot to set the x60 shutter speed but nonetheless, I like the result!

All in all a great result for me which at least proves the camera's optics are delivering the goods as they should focus-wise. The extra bits on the body make it very easy to hold to so I do rather like this little camera. Takes the pressure off me having to find an AutoReflex!

Arthur

PS - used the 35-70mm Beroflex zoom, FP-4 developed in ID-11, scanned with Vehu.

I am now open for names for this little half frame camera, something suitably cyrillic would be nice... can be Russian or English I guess but it does have to fit on the prism housing!

How many letters, arthur? What do you want to comemorate? BTW: what does ambermile mean?

I'll ask my russian colleagues tomorrow and get you a name

No idea yet Ujjwal, I had thought about changing the "Supris" to "Shock"... which means I could change the "Zenit" to "Culture" ... but it's not the same joke in Russian :( Looking for something to call the camera now in it's current state rather than what it was before... but still give a hint of the previous.

Ambermile? Two kids, Liselle Emma and Brendan Mark, a wife Irene May, myself Arthur Roy, and all surnamed Edwards. Initial letters from those and bounce them around :D

Depends how big they are :D At 5mm I would say six tops.

минио "mini"
старое одно "old one"
ремонт "repair"
малая рамка "small frame"
старая камера "old camera"
дешевая камера "cheap camera"
Черный русский "black russian"

Toughie because of the word length :(

From the "Frankencamera" comments....

Изверг - Monster

Only Kidding ;)

So do I... in a weird sort of way!

Just right in captals

ИЗВЕРГ

Well, yeah I guess... but that's a reet girlie bike though :D
