Thailand holiday. Fuji vs Canon debate

So in the end I have decided to stick with Canon, as I cant get used to Fuji at all.

I am now considering what lens(es) to take. In fitting with my original post, it is not a photography holiday, but photographs OF the holiday are important to me.
Ideally something wide, something fast and something medium. Ie 24, 35,85 - but ideally wanting to only take 2 lenses

People who have been before... is there much of a need for an ultra wide there? Or do you think 35mm could be wide enough for most things?

My advice is to take a DSLR if you must but just one lens, maybe a reasonably wide aperture 28, 35 or 50mm or even an 85mm for quality and low light shooting and to take a quality compact for the occasions when a DSLR is too much such as when eating out or at very busy or crowded locations and for occasions when you want wider or longer shots.

I managed with either my 5D +50mm f1.4 and a compact or GF1+20mm f1.7 + compact in asia and in Thailand I managed with my GX7+20mm f1.7 or A7+35mm f2.8 and each time took a reasonable compact for the wider, longer and non big camera occasions.

The thing with ultrawides is (IMO) that they're arguably one of the most difficult things to use well and take time and thought and a lot of thinking and positioning and tourist dodging. On a non photography holiday maybe they take too much time and faff?

The days when I want to faff on changing lenses or spending too much time composing and shooting when with family and friends are over. I'd much rather enjoy their company and the holiday rather than be the bore always running off or hanging back with the DSLR. I don't think that makes me less of an amateur photographer as I still took a lot of shots but it did mean that I enjoyed my holiday and the company of my GF and her family a lot more and my photography didn't cause so much as one cross word :D Just my 2p :D

I'd take a walk about zoom like the 24-105mm f4L as that will cover 90% of your needs for holiday snaps and is also of a quality that will allow you to get some great shots if the time allows I'd them throw in a 35mm prime for low light and low weight use. This is my preferred combo on holidays then we have a canon S110 for times when the slr is a pain like eating out or getting people to take snaps of us.

Thanks for the input :)

My final question on this. I have decided to take the 6D with either 35L or 50L for general stuff... and either an 85mm 1.8 or 135L f2

Out of the 85 / 135 which do you think would be more useful

If youre taking the 50, then the 135 makes more sense imo.

85/35 for me without hesitation , don't think 50 is wide enough for a lot of stuff and 135 would frustrate me when most of the time it would be too long , and you can always crop a 85mm shot

just to be different buy a rx100 lol seriously tho I would take ur Fuji cant see it is worth the hassle of a dslr and don't forget airport security nowadays is a nightmare

How is airport security anymore of a nightmare with a felt than it is a compact?

This.

a dslr in my experience when carrying lenses etc is not great when you go through security maybe I just have one of those faces though lol
