Having fallen by the wayside during Dave Kiddles excellent Octobers prime lens challenge and feeling recently that i have lost my mojo...I have set myself a personal challenge for 2012

My personal challenge is to learn /get better at/improve techniques for table top and macro photography.

I have a basic 50 mm canon macro lens which i will use and this will enable me to increase my confidence levels whilst using my least favourite lens
I am aiming to post at least one shot a week, possibly two. Comments feedback critique and constructive pointers are always welcome :)

WELL.... i'll see your weak proposal of two images a week ....and think you should do three... tweaking the angle or the lighting, to show you thought outside the box as to your usual methods ... :naughty:

lol I dont have any usual methods, thats the point :) rarely do any macro or table top stuff

It was suggested by someone that i try landscapes, but living where i live doesnt give much scope for landscapes so thought about it for a bit then came up with the macro/table top idea :)

Shall look forward to your comments :)

All comments, critisiims, ideas and general points will be very well received and most welcome :)

Good start Tezz:thumbs::clap: What about a story line with this little chap and his fish?

I like it :)

Small crit - the subject is a little too central - needs to be a bit more to the left to give 'him' space in the direction he's looking, and watch your background as there's a shodowy grid. Might be worth buying some coloured card from Hobbycraft to use as backgrounds. Blue would have been good here. :)

Thanks Dave, will look to improve the shot and upload the improved version with the next shot i take tomorrow

I agree with Dave, just a tad too central, but a great idea and a good start. The background was a little distracting initially, but now I have told myself it's his igloo, I am happy :D ;)

Thank Yv ... now why didnt I think of that :):bonk:

Well done Tezz, great start. Shame about the background as already said. I use large colour cards from the local art shop, also good for head and shoulder shots

Really struggled yesterday with my second shot of the week! havent even got anything worthwhile to post, so am going to attempt this again tomorrow ...This callenge is proving to be a challenge...least I bagged one shot this week :)

Took this macro shot at Whipsnade Zoo this morning using an ef 100m F2.8L IS USM.

Thought it would be suitable for the challenge :)

Its amazing how frost can look like snow...yet under closer scrutiny how delicate it looks... Well done.

Very nice. What more can I say? Oh, it's pointing up so your hole wont be straight.
