What....soon you will say you won't have a Rolex, drive a Mercedes.
I don't own a watch, well I do, my grandad's old hunter.
But I don't wear it.

As for Merc's I drove one once.
Note I said once, it was probably the worse car I'd driven up to that point.

Can anyone explain me why? What for?

Phone calls are more natural, quicker and easier and do not involve 1000 annoying beeps. Emails are less restrictive if you need to send information over. What is this obsession with the out of date last-century technology? Particularly whilst driving...

I turned the beeps off on my phone lol

Flashing lights and dancing girls in my case :)

I'm a real textaholic I must say, my job involves working long hours and quite often spend alot of time sat in the dark with not alot to do so it's easier to keep in touch with people by text. My phone is almost always on vibrate/silent, but my Nexus 5 has an RGB LED notification light which I have set to different colours for different notifications (white for SMS, green for Gmail, fast flashing green for Whatsapp, yellow for Snapchat, flashing red for incoming call, solid red for no signal) so it's easy to see what to ignore/answer!

Damn even after reading that I've already forgotten what notification is for what :)

My home screen shows me what I've received.

I use texts when Mrs Nod is teaching so I don't interrupt her classes and she always checks her phone straight after a class (and between classes when she's doing a couple back to back). Could use e-mails (and sometimes do if I'm at home) but being tight, I don't use the internet on the mobile network, only via WiFi and that isn't always available.

Move with the times, bit ironic really since the op must've used PC/lappy to type the text in this thread..... Same idea innit

No it is not the same. I wasn't limited to a tiny screen, 140 characters, my thumbs don't hurt and nothing was vibrating in my pants! :)

You should try a modern mobile communication device....hasn't got any of those limitations either :)

emails are fine, it is the txts I have issue with. The archaic limitations of the service and lazy people make it sound like they are still in the kindergarden. There is usually no proper grammar, so good luck interpreting.
I'd suggest that's caused by the people with whom you choose to associate, rather than being an intrinsic feature of the system.

Such draconian views from the OP!
You should enter into the TP secret santa this year...maybe one of us will buy you an old slate!
Then again...you probably have some beef with old St Nick too I suppose

I hate Christmas and everything about it other than the food.

I do however love SMS/iMessage, its easy, fast etc and you can reply as/when you are free.

You would rather want to phone your family and friends, even people you work with or for, while it is a bad time for them, like when they are on the toilet, in the bath, making love in bed, when they are driving, having an operation at a hospital, or anything like that? Just to say "Meet you at the pub at 6pm. Mine's a pint."

What about the annoying thing about trying to redial over and over again and again, just to get an answer?

Easier to text and send a short message, so they can read it when they're ready.

Hold on, text messaging is so last century? Aren't phone calls so the century before that?

I got 3 calls from the same caller yesterday. None if them I answered as I was busy but it was a simple question they asked re finance (something I know about) that could have been answered in a quick text with a one word yes/no reply. Why call, people are busy often text, emails can be replied when they are free.

You could, you know, check the phone occasionally

Sounds like that would be too easy an option:D

as for how it's written, proper english for me, even with the old phones i spelt stuff out correctly

I don't mind people calling. However if they keep calling and calling without leaving s voicemail message that truly annoys me. Just leave a message I've never not gotten back to anyone.

1 call, but 3, no message. I hate VM, txt/email is just quicker. I rarely communicate by phone, I prefer the written word or face to face contact.

What texts are limited to 140 chatacters these days?
Do you only have thumbs? No fingers?
And what goes on in your pants is your own business!
