Yes
Hi, ive been working on my website taking the advice of people on here. It would be great if people could check it out.

Ignore the fact that the pictures and text dont work together and the thumbnails are wrong.

basically, I have reduced the size from 1.4kb to 388kb. The pictures are loaded when you elect them instead of at the start and there is no sound, i'm just hoping that what I have done actually works.

Thanks in advance. Please use the link below as its the test version.

EDIT---

I have uploaded the full version now, should have most things changed with regards to text. Thanks for helping.

seems ok!
I expected that, on the services page, I could click, say, weddings, and get more info
is that still to come?

I still think the font is horribly unreadable :(

not really, the text is good enough :)

I think the question posed was about speed which seemed all right to me. If the question was presentation then there are areas that are works in progress in my opinion.

yah im just interested that the images and thumbnails are displaying correctly and fast enough. Text and the rest is the next thing i'll work on.

Quick question though, how is the text on the picture info panel ( goto gallery01 picture 1 and look on the right of the photo)

Thanks

I think the problem is not necessarily the size of the text
but dark grey on black is never going to be easy on the eye

Check how flash is rendering the text as well, I can't remember the different options off the top of my head but I think it might look better in a different mode. At the moment I think it's being drawn as a graphic rather than text, sorry if this all sounds a bit vague - hopefully someone will pop along with the correct tech names in a bit....

The images are taking a little longer than Id expect in the gallery considering their size.

Have you resized the images the correct size to fit the screen and optimised the images? Ideally they'd need to be optimised to at least 1 sec maximum to be effective.

Are they pre-loading with the website or individually? They should be instant if they are loaded with the site intro.

They used to load with the site, but now they load after which means the overall main site loads quicker.
I can make them a little smaller, each picture is around 88kb which is pretty small.

The colour optimisation makes a huge difference too, but be careful of the quality comprimise when doing this - you should always optimise at 100% image size

Once they have loaded first time around they are quick because they are then in the temp directory, But overall its a nice site. You may want to consider a simple pre-loader bar to let people with slower connections know that they are loading (just in case).

I have to admit that while the layout does look smart, the font and the text size was that small that by the time I could read it, my nose was pressing itself against the monitor. And I don't need glasses (have excellent eyesight).
If you could make that homepage just slighter larger overall, and perhaps a bit more in the way of contrast so that the text sticks out better (lighter text against a darker background) then you'll have a cracker of a web site.
As it is at the moment, it might be acceptable on an 15 ins monitor with it's resolution set at 800 x 600 pixels, but in this day and age of large sized flatscreens with resolution set at god knows how big they are, that website comes out very tiny.

Its odd, every monitor i have used the text is readable, its hard to change it when I cant see how small it must be. I have a 21" screen @ 1400x1050 and it still looks fine. I'll try changing the colour though.

there is a pre loader, its just the site is small now it loads super quick

Just took another look... spot on mate!

great, shouldnt be a problem changing the colour to CCCCCC.
What I have been doing it linking to external text files for the writing and the text looks a lot crisper when i do this. Strange....

images load fast as hell for me.. nice looking site.
Could do with a "previous / next" button on the images though or make the images clickable to navigate?
Am a little unsure on the thumbnails being a crop of the originals though..?
