I was after a larger soft box primarily for my wedding ocf work and last week I bought an Octabox from ebay linky which I paired with this adapter (thanks to Simon Revill for pointing me in the right direction) and today I finally got a chance to try them out. Unfortunately as soon as the boys saw the camera coming out they shot out the door and I had to rely on my old standby model - Biggles!

The 90cm Octabox is an umbrella affair and is a cinch to set up in seconds and the adapter is much, much better than the ones you get with Lastolite Easybox Hotshoe, I have a Bowens S type fitting on this one and the hold rig takes no time at all to put together.

The result was a lovely soft light which I am very pleased with and hopefully it will be a good addition to the armoury.

D3, 85mm f/1.8, taken at ISO200, 1/60th, f/2. Single SB-900 in Octabox to camera right.

oooh thanks for that Colin (and Simon) Just grabbed a bracket :)

My studio lights are a bowens fit so I already have all sorts of grids, barndoors, beauty dish and softboxes. So it will be really useful for me to be able to use even a standard reflector dish with a grid.

Thanks guys! :)

Nice rig! :) Softbox looks really easy to use and great value

Diffuser panel in your last pic looks a bit thick. No wonder you had to shoot at f/2 :D

The beauty of them is that they are foldable - no more stupid rods to mess about with
