hi guys
just got a S/H lens & its got a few small marks/spots on the lens ,looks like the coating . And a dust spot on the rear lens ...
What settings should use to fully test this lens for IQ etc ?
Any input would be helpful as got 7 days to return it ...

A few small specks/spots are unlikely to have too much impact on IQ but might make it more prone to flare when light from a direct source hits the front element and might reduce contrast a little. Whether the marks on your lens make a significant difference or not will be hard to judge without a direct comparison with a brand new perfect example so really you need to take a load of test shots of the type you usually take and see if you think the images are suffering because of the marks. Maybe take a few at the same focal length that a lens you already have covers and compare the shots through both lenses.

If the pictures look good the lens is ok simple.

Take pictures. If you like them, the lens is fine.

Or alternatively take a load of artificial test shots. If you take enough you can almost certainly persuade yourself that there is *something* wrong with the lens. Then you can have a really long debate here about whether it's really the lens or whether it's your approach to testing it (ie user error). Either way you won't be happy.

looks like i'm keeping the lens as the pictures & guides I've checked seem ok :-)
normally don't buy S/H lens so wanted a few pointers how to check ...
cheers for the input guys
