I am angry, very angry, The reason, my wife’s company Tesco put profit ahead of her well being.

Yesterday in what has been described as the worst snowfall in 25 years my wife was told that she could not go home early on pain of having a ‘disciplinary’ even though her line manager knew forwell that the buses were stopping running, there were no taxis, my wife does not drive and she faced waking 5 miles uphill in freeing conditions and a snow storm.

Quite frankly I think they are @**** of the first order

My wifes company (owned by a money grabbing financial group) shut at 3.00pm yesterday to allow people to go home safely :)

Tesco - every little helps to increase our profits

Your wife should have left when she felt it was safe to, on return to work she should have then taken a grievance out against that so called Manager.
One of the prime responsibilties of a Tesco Manager is the welfare of the staff.

Very little helps more like it.

Tesco have always been ***** in situations such as this. When I used to work for them part time, a father of 4 got killed on our loading bay overnight by a truck (he was our backdoor man) and guess which mug they made to unload wagons the very next day.... :(

Sounds like a horrible guy :(

I dislike Tesco in lots of ways TBH. Their self-service things don't work, you can tell they don't care about their staff and I've been refused entry by an over-eager security guard simply because of my age :| (not that the last one only happens in Tesco)

Apparently they're building a new Tesco in our small town. We already have a big one, we don't need a second!! I see myself sitting infront of a bulldozer before long, but no doubt they'll do it when I'm not there :p

I work for a large supermarket chain (not Tescos) in their warehouse, i find that they are not that interested in employees welfare, it's just down to unit's out the door with them, i also have mates who work in Tescos warehouse and Sainsburys, and it's pretty much the same thing, units out the door at whatever cost, the amount of accidents people have at my place due to bad H&S is unbelievable, i would love to see their insurance premium, if your looking for any understanding from employees like these forget it :(

To be honest this doesn't surprise me at all. My mum works at her local Tesco 3 nights a week on twilight (6-10pm), rarely sees her boss (so she doesn't get her pay slips - she does get paid though) and as she works Mon,Wed,Fri if her shift falls on a Bank Holiday where the store shuts at 6, they expect her to go in a 2pm to 6pm, even though they know she works full time elsewhere (granted she gets BH's off from her day job).
To be honest I can't wait for her to leave when she retires in 16 months time.

Tesco have just cancelled our "home delivery"
due to adverse weather conditions.
I saw their vehicles on the road yesterday when it was snowing hard!
Today the skies are clearing, the roads / paths are generally clear.
Make of that what you will ( to little to late as far as the staff are concerned?)

I work with a chap whose wife works in a small supermarket. If she has to take time off on the grounds of ill-health, even one day, she is put through a disciplinary warning system. Talk about valuing your most valuable resource...

I bought some tesco own brand hula-hoop type crisps on Saturday: The Best before end date? OCTOBER 2008

Good one chaps

My biggest argument with most of the supermarkets is the mudslinging tactics used in their ads. I'm sure they were never allowed to come right out and say 'we're cheaper than asda'.
