Tesco *used* to process it as a discount, so if these were put on the discount system as, for example 98p each thats a total of 1.96, and the system would be instructed when two are scanned to deduct 36p

So if they did scan through on their own at 67p each, you'd get two for 98p :)

Not sure if their system still works like that though.

Lost me there Marcel

67p + 67p = 134p

System thinks to itself: "36p discount for two."

134p - 36p = 98p

Simples.

I'm getting peed off with my local Morrisons putting their special offer shelf labels under very similar items, and the actual special offers are nowhere to be found.

There used to be a shop in Glasgow which had a huge sign across it's window saying "CLOSING DOWN SALE" and then in tiny letters at the bottom "at our other branch"

There was a shop in Wallsend (outskirts of Newcastle) that had a sign covering the entire shop front which read "CLOTHING DOWN" and then in small lettering underneath was "in price"

The number of people who read it as closing down :)

Surely that would work the other way with this though, as the system would see them as 67p each, but multibuy is £1.60.

As such, when you bought two it would add 26p, meaning you pay 80p each.

The Walmart here usually have labels on stuff with 'Buy 2 for $4' but doesn't actually give you the individual item price. On enquiring, I discovered that the individual price is $2 :suspect: Makes you think you're getting a good deal, when in fact you're just being encouraged to buy more!

I seen that in Tesco Cumbernauld last night, thought it was just a Nauld thing lol

Y'know what, I don't think its an accident any more, I think they think we're mugs, trouble is, some of us are.
Morrisons are getting on my nerves too, there are loads of bulk buys that are more expensive than singles, bladdy tuna for one, a 4 pack is 30p dearer than 4 separates...wtf...we pay 30p extra cos they stuck em together ???

I can feel a swift kick up the arse coming on..

Same at Sainsburrys, i always work things out before found loads of times where the so called offers, offer less for the money.

Right, not that I want to defend Tesco particularly, but I work in retail (convenience store). We have an almost identical offer on our soft drinks. The offer is you can buy ANY 330ml/ 500ml for £1.60 (or less).

In the section where the offer is (in my store - drinks chillers), there is large signage detailing the offer and all the drinks avaiable within that offer - and in front of each item there is a price label (as in the picture in OP),

I am guessing there was not enough room on the price label (SEL) pictured in the OP to add the words (or less).

Therefore although the stated item (IRN BRU) is 67p each, meaning purchasing two of them would cost LESS than £1.60. You would be able to mix an Irn Bru with a more expensive drink - and it would still only cost £1.60 (or less).

Hope this makes sense?!?

:)
