I really enjoyed his books during my teenage years, and partiuclarly his work with Neil Gaiman still has me laughing. Of course I knew he had it very early but its very sad to hear he's succumed to Alzheimer's at just 66.

Yes - just read this on the Beeb. Very sad news - a huge loss to the world of story-telling....

Very sad news.
Enjoyed his work immensely.

A brilliant author and a super-sharp mind. A great loss to the literary world.

Oh no I loved his Discworld stuff

his work with Neil Gaiman still has me laughing

Good Omens was a classic, I've read it many times and still have a well worn copy, sheer brilliance (y)

I still think Death's line "I could murder a curry" is a classic.

A sad loss, he wrote them faster than I could read them, still got a couple to go!

A horrible way for such a man to end up, he had a wonderfully warped sense of humour and he had me hooked with the first page of the first book of his that I read. RIP and hitch a ride with Death now and again just for the fun of it!

These were the last Tweets on his account --

AT LAST, SIR TERRY, WE MUST WALK TOGETHER.

Terry took Death’s arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night.

The End.

A very sad loss of a brilliant, often underrated author. Behind a veneer of humorous silliness he always possessed the keenest observation.

First Iain Banks, now Terry Pratchett. My favourite authors are all passing away much too young.
John le Carre had better be immortal.
